The next ones are from the early 2000s, like ´02 or so.
This was the day of my inauguration to the Hep Demons car Club. It was hot, but the water in the little pool was extremely cold. My friends of the Hep Demons drove me up the stage sitting in the pool and having me present the 60 ElCamino I was taking a bath in to the audience every hour during the car show. Hahaha. after a few hrs the water was warm enough so some of them decided to join me,

My 56 Chevy to the left, and the 34 Plymouth I bought from my clubmate Rainer later that year, or maybe a the year after.

After another carsho/ party. It was pitchblack outside and I had partied enough, so I decided to sneek away. It´s easier to get undressed outside the tent , right? But then there was that flash....Yes, I literally got caught with my pants down.

Bottrop Roaddevils car show, maybe 2002. It was freaking ( freezing too at night!!)cold and it was June, and all I had was t-shirts. I went to a hardware store to buy that kahki jacket. I still use it as a shop jacket.

Ok this was years ago when I was driving a earlyChevy II with a bbc /full on cage /etc. etc. Made the mistake of falling asleep in the car one night after a hard day at the track. I can thank my good brothers fishead/Opie Taylor aka Scott Watkins /and Murdock Dr. Matt Lowe for the signage. No crap he now has a PhD
There is also a picture of a fire burnout at byhalia dragway on a Z50 Honda mini trail somewhere I gotta find. Damn thing went dead /for get Elvis- Scott said he saw GOD. Nope we were stone sober. This was normal for the time.

    Hello,

With the past posting on CONTEMPLATING RETIREMENT for Ryan's thread, that period of time was about good things happening with friends. Our house had the owner, his wife and small toddler, the two of us and a teenage surfer from Long Beach. The other house had two couples with kids, too. Finally, from Long Beach was an old family friend with a teenage daughter. They were renting just down the street from all of us. When all of us got together in one house or the other, it certainly was a "motley crew."
    upload_2020-3-26_5-30-43.png
It was a time to remember, because for 30 days of the summer, it felt like we were on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Well, we were. But, it was the gathering of friends for a care free period of our lives. Sure the other couples had a toddler or two, whereas, we were just a couple of 20 somethings searching for answers and direction of our lives. Remembering why we we ended up as a couple.

“There was a time that we’d stay up all night
Best friends, yeah, talking until the daylight
Took the joys alongside the pain
With not much to lose but so much to gain…”

Was anything settled hanging around this beautiful area? We were too busy relaxing and having the time of our lives to notice anything going on for those long days and nights. No phones, no newspaper, no TV, no radio, and no communication to the outside world. Just friends, new and old, gathering and sharing our experiences with each other. It was different than what we grew up with during our teen years. But, we were there to relax and relax we did, between friendly gatherings and adventures on this small island.

Adventurous as my wife is, she did not want to jump in that deep pool. But, she braved the slippery cliff tops to get all of these shots of someone she knew that was a little crazy. The water was cool, directly from the mountain tops and recent rainfall. The natural pool water surface was crystal clear and the bottom, well, it was a standard bottom that most did not want to stick their feet into it.
    upload_2020-3-26_5-32-47.png
On the way to the secret, but now closed waterfall and natural pool.

It takes all kinds of “Good Times” to keep the spirit alive in today’s situation. Stay together, stay safe and isolate. To paraphrase the Rolling Stones:

    From my BillyBob Shop log

November 19th 2016 Been strugglin' to get back out in the BillyBob Shop to get some work done but my weak efforts have been uneventful. It was mid-afternoon, Saturday, and I still had not made the move from the office to the shop. I opened a loud rude knock at the door to find Euge Reidy with an intervention team consisting of Wayne Harlow, Blake, Robert Martin and Yanni. Euge has been anxious to put the head back on the Jimmy ever since we took it off sixteen months ago. The guy has no patience. It is still not ready to go back on so they looked for something else to do.

We ended up lapping up a few beers and some valves.

    Hello,

Back in So Cal during the late 50’s and early 60s, drag racing was still developing with new ideas always coming to the fore front. The Tapia Brothers were well known in the early drag racing scene at Lions Dragstrip. They built a low slung modified Chassis Research frame, use an injected Chevy and ran circles around most of the gas dragsters in the classes during the early times. Involved as they were, family and friends gathered at their house and did more prep work every week.
    upload_2020-4-5_4-21-57.png Tapia Bros Collection
It was a gathering of friends and family to do what was necessary to keep the winning streak alive. Their exploits, when we were able to film the sleek dragster, were epic in our book. It did not take a top gas class A/Gas dragster with a Hemi to win and continue winning in all types of eliminations.

    NOTE 2:

The Tapia Bros did beat the Art Afron’s Green Monster. It was called: "Bobby Slays the Green Monster." In 1959 in a highly publicized match race, Bobby Tapia in the Tapia Bros SBC race car called “Almost Grown,” beat Art Afrons in the big Green Monster #11.

I don't get around and hang out much in recent times, but Patty... my tall dog... keeps me company. Always curious to see what's new.
I wish for good times for you all.
