Said he pulled the 235 because it was locked up and he had a rebuilt 216 he put in it. Also he put a 55 dash but has the 54 to go with it Screenshot_20200321-225944_Facebook.jpeg

s-l1600.jpg o.k. so the windshield and back glass have 150 weatherstrip. It is still a 210 back glass. I did it to mine. wanted to shave some of the trim. I also filled where the trim was in the corners. The motor looks like a 216 valve cover. There will be a side cover on the dist. side. If it goes around the plugs , it is a 216.

Only the ‘53 150 had the small back window (however rumor has it there are a very few early ‘54’s that had them). The ‘54 150 had the same rear window as the sedans. This car has no windshield trim which would say ‘54 but who knows- the gaskets with and without are interchangeable (not all models use the same windshield though!) Some differences in the dashes would be stainless discs on the gauges, radio delete in the 150’s, directional arrows- white in 53, green in 54, etc... I think there is a thread here somewhere with a list of the differences between years.

  5. fastcar1953,

I think the 54 had the same size rear glass for the 150 and 210. I think the 53 had two sizes for the 150 and 210.

I have a 53 coupe which has the small glass that may have also been used on the sedan?

15 lb oil pressure or 30 . Several differences. None of the differences matter depending on what he's doing with car.

Coupes would have had small glass but not sedans.

Here is a link to another forum with a list of some of the differences. Like mentioned above- doesn’t really matter depending on your plans.

  12. Look at 53 150 sedan photos. I Googled a few. Unless I need larger glasses, I see a small rear window on the 53 only not 54. Hell, I'll look again....

They may have. I have not looked it up or have ever seen one.

  14. I don't know how to get a photo from Google, but the stock 53 150 sedan has the coupe window.

That's o.k. I'm not wanting to argue, just never saw one. It's probably a 54 . They would have to change bumper brackets on the front to get bumper to bolt up. They smoothed the firewall . The 216 is going backwards but if you have it i guess might as well use it. A 54 or newer 235 would have been better choice.

    1953 150 coupes and sedans= small window
1953 210 and Bel Air= big wrap around window
    1954 All 150, 210, and BA= wrap around window
Both years Hardtop and convertible windshields are 5/8 or 3/4” shorter. Not sure which windshield the deliveries used.

In terms of upholstery I'm aware it's a 55 dash

I agree he said it was on the stand ready to go so there it went, only reason he came to a stop on this project he got a 55 and he likes them a whole lot more, hes had this car up for sale for years and its finally to a price where I can look at it

Hey there Taylor, how are you doing with your Chevy hunt? That 54 still has a lot of work to do and if you're not ready for all that, it may become a frustration and then a stalled project. That Fleetline still looks like a better choice in my humble opinion.
