By looking at it without any trim any clues to if it's a 150 210 or belair? 20200321_191941.jpeg

If you search a 210, it looks like it is the same as this car. The 150 has no trim while the 210 has the line and the bel air has the bell air emblem and trim on the rear quarters.

As far as value between the belair and 210 is it significant

I guess you can say that yes. The Bel Air is the top of the line. But, there are many who prefer the 210 just as much. It all depends on a persons taste. Sometimes it's more about a Hard Top or Coupe body and not so much the model line or trim.

Hey rebel, it looks like there is just the one line down the quarter. I don't see the two lines of holes that would say it had the bel air trim.

You can tell by looking for welded up trim holes on the quarter panels from inside the trunk. No welded up holes =150. 1 row of weldedup hole=210. 2 rows of welded holes =BelAir

One of the few stovebolt chevs I like, and I prefer a sedan over a hardtop in this body style. Straight six with appropriate hopup parts, body smooth as possible and a dark color.... mmmm tasty.

Not common on 54s, but later Chevys it's pretty common to change trim level....you can look a the cars's serial number tag on the door hinge pillar, if it starts with A-150, B-210, C-Belair.

And the body trim tag under the hood will have a style number, if it starts with 54-12xx it's a 150, 54-10xx it's a 210, or Belair if it has a D after the number.

Would this have a actual tag on the door jam or would it go off the original motor cast number to match the title

The car should have a serial number tag spot welded to the driver door hinge pillar. Whether the title uses that number, or the engine number, is determined by the state the car was titled in, long ago, and really doesn't matter.

That's a Hardtop Belair, but you could also get it as a sedan, two or four doors.

  16. What a great start to bringing one of these to life!

And if the tag numbers above don’t match then someone put a ‘54 front end on a ‘53 210 -which is common. Also, it looks like it possibly has ‘55 headlights, or a “brow” of some kind. Definitely not ‘53 or ‘54 whatever they are.

Wasn't a 150 the only one without rock shields on the quarters.

That little part that extends out over the top of the headlight. Yep, those are ‘55 Chevy headlights grafted on to the fenders of the ‘54, it was/is a common modification. While ‘53 and ‘54 were slightly different, the headlight “doors” (trim rings) were flat to the fender with no “brow”

Pretty sure all models had rock shields. The 150’s had rubber ones while the other models had stainless.

Showing the stainless side trim and typical two tone..210 has a single line like the one in the model car kit. He needs to look for holes or filled holes by looking inside. Jim that one has a 409 4-speed. 409 HP

I never got pics of the rear but from what i could tell was original, 95% of the body work is done and it has a new floor body was off and he did all new brake lines and brakes painted the frame with por15 with a gloss finish, front disk conversion, motor was trash so it has a rebuilt 216 right now

150 has smaller back glass. the trim around the windows says 210 . has 54 tail lights But they were changed a lot between 53 and 54's. Dash would provide more clues. Depends on chrome trim. seat brackets also had different trim. Is the original engine in it? 235 but 53 had babbit rods unless automatic. 54 has inserts.

    I bet it's a 235 not 216. Any pics of engine?

  30. This is a bit confusing to me. It has no stainless trim on the front and rear windows. I think only the 150 was in rubber only. Yet, there are holes for the single strip body side moldings from the front fender to the rear which means that would be a 210. These all came with rock shields. Rubber was 150, stainless was 210 and Belair. But they're not on the car. So, my bet is 210 with 150 front and rear windows.

Please check the body tag and let me know!

    Tom
