Going to put a 1955 Column in my Model A project and planning on welding up holes but want to be sure before i close them so need some advice. Would like to know what the openings are for A,B and C are before i close them. Also anyone have suggestions on how to fill the column shifter hole in the top piece? I am going to a floor shifter. also that bent sping on the inner column...is that for the neutral safety switch or what? Thanks !

shift indicator, locating tab, and neutral switch, if I recall correctly.

I think the spring is for the shift indicator.

The shift lever hole..recess the edges, JB weld some metal over it, bondo, finish.

  4. Yep that's it. Maybe the horn wire hole should be left open. The picture is of the inner shift tube has the spring.

The larger rectangular hole above the C hole, is where the wires come out.

Not to be mistaken for the A hole.

Good tip on the JB Weld. I seem to recall that collar piece is of a cast pot metal?
