I'm currently building/resurrecting a '54 Ford Customline Gasser which was built/raced in the '60's. I was told by the previous owner that the straight axle was out of a '65-'66 IH Scout Postal Vehicle. Wanting to replace the aging brake components I thought finding new drums would be easy but like most builds things are never as easy as they appear. The drums are Kelsey-Hayes made back when their operations were in Canada but today the company no longer exists as a single business entity. I've tried Rockauto twice and bought the wrong ones. I've called Centrix/Rybestos/LZ TRW with no luck. Even tried AMC/Chrysler/Jeep which produced the Jeep DJ (Dispatch Series) used by the USPS. K.H. part number on drum is 46925. Specs are as follows. > 9" ID with brake surface width of 2.250 > 5 on 4.5 lug pattern > 2.875 total width > 2.813 hub hole > Wheel mounting surface is flat ( no rise or depression) I've looked at '60's MOPAR options such as Plymouth Valiant, Savoy etc. which had 9x2 drums but BP is 5 on 4. Seemingly out of options I measured the drums hoping they were less than the 9.06 MAX dia. so I can turn them but found they've been punched out to a dangerous 9.125. Timken bearing sets are common at 2.441 OD inner & 1.750 OD outer. Hoping now to replace/upgrade to '65-'66 Mustang 10" brake system but soliciting HAMB assistance for guidance.
