Anyone know a source for replacement brass tube seats for brake calipers? I have a couple of Kelsay Hayes calipers with damaged seats that I'd like to replace. Thanks. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
NPT fittings are not suited for the high pressures of a brake system. Doesn't mean it wouldn't work though Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
You better tell every hydraulic brake light switch this important piece of information....plenty of NPT fittings in hydraulic systems running higher pressure than our brake systems. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I recently sourced a high pressure gauge and I remember finding a 15,000 psi model with 1/4 NPT connection.
Those calipers are shot, the cost of properly disposing of them is outrageous. I'll send you my address and properly dispose of them for you. LOL You are looking for a replacement fitting or a replacement seat that is inverted flare? Fittings can be had at any hydraulic repair shop a seat is probably another problem all together they were probably not a removable seat.
From what I've read these brass "tube seats" are replaceable in the kelsey Hayes 4 piston calipers. Lots of mustangs used them, again, from what I've read. I looked closer at mine and I think they will be fine. I tighten a new double flare line and nut into each one and they all seem to seat well. As for the NPT fittings not being up for the pressure I agree that NPT will take plenty. I was quoting from online sources. More than a few said not for hydraulic systems. I don't believe it either hence the smile emoji. Just my seat of the pants feeling is that I like a quality double flare over an NPT connection fwiw. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
Not to derail your thread with continued discussion about NPT but................ You do know (maybe not) that many aftermarket brake components are tapped NPT and can accept any number of seating arrangements whether AN, SAE, etc. (there are others).
someplace between Saturn and Neptune Black pipe, which may have NPT on it isn’t suitable but that’s the water/NG pipe not the NPT
OK. Thanks. My fault. I guess I was looking at some online information and overlooked the "black pipe" caveat. Yes thank. So sorry if I offended any npt fans. Who knew! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
If you can remove them you might try getting them from Dorman Products...they make lots of offbeat stuff in those Help Packages...
The people to ask are those that are in the business of rebuilding brake components. Apple Hydraulics, for example. www.applehydraulics.com They could tell you if the seats are even available. They might not want to share the source, of course.
OK well I guess it had to go here. Folks with very big, yet extremely fragile egos tend to make such posts as these. I've was young, cocky and such eearly in life and I'm hoping you two are not older than I was when I realized I didn't know everything. I'll happily put my experience, skill and know how about restoring automobiles against either one of you posers. What do you say? You two wish to go head to head with me? You want to show everyone how much better you are? Take the challenge please. You name it and I'll consider it. Show me what you got that permits you to mock other people. You two must be the best of the best huh? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
Over react much ? , bit thin skinned ? Did people not tell you that just because its on the internet doesn't make it true .?....here or anywhere ....
I got some SSBC alum calipers [$$] that are 1/8th pipe with 90° adapter to 37°AN brake line, with some loc tite to keep from getting loose. Wonderful. An "o" ring adappter would be best.. But what do I know.
Looks like somebody got butt hurt here and just from the truth. Wouldn’t it be nice if nobody ever “LEARNED” bullshit so then of course nobody would ever get mad at the truth. The truth is GOOD but man it’s touchy
