A great project. Hopefully most of your problems are behind you although it makes for an interesting and informative read seeing how you solve those problems! Deciding to use the hemi will put the "hot" back into "hotrod" although I hope you find a use for that flatty.
As patmanta said, That 2 speed Halibrand deserves it's own thread. I know that some were made but have no details. Someone told me they had one some years ago, but I'm not sure who it was. Maybe CRS will kick out for a few minutes and I can write it down.
Hmmm, you have no room for your rt foot on the accelerator either. My knee just doesn't dislocate like that.
I think I can make the spoon throttle fit. It won't be the same as stock but should work. I won't be able to drive with boots on though.
I built a ‘32 Ford pickup from scratch, and can say without hesitation that fitting three pedals and making them functional was by far the most challenging task of the whole project.
Just finishing up the welding and fab work on the frame, but the wife interrupted my to help tile the kitchen back splash. So after cutting tile for a couple hours I figured a change was in order so I fooled with my oil pan mods. I used a 318 truck pan sump to make my Desoto pan more marine like. It will get a trap door, windage tray and a few other silly bits. Just for fun.
I see things man ! doesn't that upside down oil-pan with the bottom cut out look like a tiny '50s pedal car at the body shop...
All the welding is finally done on the frame and it's off to the sand blaster this week, which means I get to start on the engine! I have eaten all the zip disc dust I can stand for a while.
Thanks Ryan. It's been a lot of dirty work and I am looking forward to finishing parts and bolting them on for a change.
Too bad it’s a weekday. March 16ths should be spent in the garage. Maybe opening packages of needed parts? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Ya instead. Am stuck at work listening to covid hysterical BS and suffering with computers that don't work....super fun!
My buddy got my frame blasted! So I spent a couple hours getting the first fill on the rust pits now that they are cleaned. Maybe I can get it in primer by the end of the weekend if I keep on it!
I know you loved the 6 and it was going to be fairly unique. You also proclaimed it would be a strong runner. But it seems if only visually the truck is going to be a different beast all together. Has your mind been anxious about the prospects of a more aggressive acceleration? Or worrisome over parts abuse and tire annihilation? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I don't worry about much! I am on the hunt for a limited slip for the rear and maybe a set of aftermarket axleshafts. Given that the engine has somewhat changed the flavour of m truck it opens up a few more options. I still plan on running my 7.00-16's on the rear with steel wheels but I also picked up a really nice set of aluminum slots that I am thinking of mounting some 31" pro trac or MT sportsmans on. Just because.
The vision for my truck keeps evolving as well. I no longer seem interested in my initial wheel/tire combo. My minds eye only seems to see the strip set up now. It is however nice to think how a swap back or forth completely will switch up the trucks image, well at least to me. You have planned the same deal I do believe. Aside from the need of getting power to the ground a change of wheels and tires is the cheapest and easiest way to change the looks of a car. It is also the most temporary change and can be totally reversed. A total change in attitude is possible and still be right for the build. Just sayin' The frame looks great! A little sunshine and I'll be blasting mine. Going to try a blast attachment for my pressure washer.
Note: ARP bolt torque lube is like stripper glitter after a business trip, is everywhere and somehow ends up all over the place, under your elbows and in your ear. It seems as impossible to wash off as well!
