That's gonna turn out really nice. Having the contrast of the black and orange is infinitely better than 99% chrome or polished aluminum.
Are you going to keep the valve covers bare aluminum? Polish them? Paint them black? Replace with black stamped (maybe script) covers?

It's been almost 2 months. Got any updated pix?

Sorry for late answer. I saw this first now. Yes. I first chromed them. Sanding and little heat before painting.

I kind of wanted my '53 to look like maybe this is what GM would have done had they had a hi performance V8 available.

Just got my old 1937 Hudson 212ci 6 cylinder engine running again after a refreshing. New valve train, rings, gasket matching & porting plus a 1941 Hudson high compression 7.25:1 head from a 175ci engine (a de-stroked 212ci engine). She now has around 8.6:1 compression!
Since nothing was done with performance parts on this engine (as I’m told), I’ll be working to create a dual carb intake & set of headers in the future as well. Then I’ll have something really cool to show off!

Search photo bucket here or google they started wanting people to PAY to host their photos so they have been missing, blurred, or giant watermarks. It's NOT you or your computer or HAMB it's everybody

Just another SBC, but this engine got me into cars 30 years ago when my dad raced it. Then into my high school Camaro after the original engine, Magically blew up. 10:1 355 with a hyd. comp cam and now a 3x2.
