The first photo shows Henry Banks in Lindsey Hopkins Kurtis midget. Could the photo have been taken at Carrell Speedway? This car had a very long history. Don Cumberworth ran it in the 60s/70s for drivers like Rick Goudy with good results. Still later son Chris raced the car. The last I heard it still exists today in beautiful condition with the Cumberworth family. The second photo shows the Joe Barzda Maserati that Bud Sennett drove at Indianapolis in 1951. He crashed it during a qualifying attempt. The car itself dated back before WWII starting out in Grand Prix racing in 1938. By 1940 woman car owner Lucy O'Reilly Schell brought the car to Indianapolis for Rene Dreyfus but missed the show; apparently over a misunderstanding of qualifying rules. The car sat on the pole at Indy with Mauri Rose driving in 1941 and was still being entered as late as 1953 with Barzda himself as the driver. Over all of those years the car only managed to make the field three times. In addition to Rose, both Paul Russo (1948) and Emil Andres (1946) were the only drivers to qualify in the car. Andres' 4th place finish was the only time the car completed the 500 miles.
