YouTube has plenty of videos . Go to a class at a tech school or one of the metal working classes put on by some of the experts . Get some metal and practice. Baleigh Tool fab company puts on classes.

For additional perspective, find some 3rd world videos where they cut up 55 gallon drums and proceed to beat out items from steel that are very useable and sometimes very good looking....using the most rudimentary of hand tools. Check out Filipinos creating repro WWII jeep sheet metal, in part by beating the steel sheet into shaped holes dug in the dirt!

What is it you want to build? Are you patching rust or building a sprint car nose and hood?

If we knew where you are from you could be directed to a metal meet. Dutch Comstock from Herkimer NY used to have one, went to it several times. His son made the aluminum hood for the MG in my avatar.

Here is a good website I don't know if this is what Wahoo was referring to.

  11. I agree with Pat. It helps to know where you are located. There are quite a few places where you could go and learn, but we have to know where you are located to help you better.

  12. last time I tried shaping metal using my computer, I broke the monitor. How about searching around your area and asking to hang out at a place that does the best work? Coffee, beer, donuts and pizza are always appreciated.

Lazze is pretty amazing. I like to watch him, knowing I can't follow in his footsteps, at least for years, but he shows ideas, and what is actually possible. He is inspiring, at the very least.

A big +1 on the above.

Wray explains in a way I can comprehend, describes different ways to accomplish the same goals with a variety of methods and tooling to meet my needs and budget.

One good example well worth the 1/2 watch here:
