Would be a shame to cover that beautiful mill anyway!

I ran my 37 Chebbie without a hood for a summer many years ago . I was at the Nats , came out of the building to see a flood . My car didn’t take on water but , the engine was hydra locked . I had to pull the plugs and spin her a few times , reinstallthe plugs and light the wick . The Harley has been hydra locked many times . Sometimes it’s from gas leakin through .

IMHO I think the thread title is the very answer to the question of hood/no hood. "Cars without a hood" suggests incomplete cars, like "cars without a motor" or "cars without a steering wheel". When you see a properly designed car with an open engine bay you don't say to yourself "by Jove that car's bonnet was nicked". On the other hand there are cars in this thread that look like the hood is missing. One is right, one...not so much.

Same can be said of "sans fenders", correct on so many hotrods and really, really wrong on so many others. A perfect example is the car directly above, it does not look like the fenders and hood sides are missing, it looks like they should have never been there from the start to muck up a perfect hotrod.

In the end it is your car, do what you like. As I prefaced my comment, this is just my honest opinion on the matter.

I ran without a hood for a few weeks because it needed paint work. Gave the car more of an attitude. 100_0267.jpg
