Technical '53 3100/235/offenhauser dual intake clearance issues?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alteredpilot, Oct 7, 2019.

  1. Hey guys, have the above combo with a stock 3 speed trans and linkage. the upper shift linkage hits the intake. Just curious what any of you have done when facing this issue. looks like tis either cut the manifold or monkey with the linkage which looks like potential for geometry/linkage issues. what say you?
    thanks in advance.

Have a '54 Bel Air with similar problems when I got the Corvette 3-carb intake installed, took the linkage arm and reversed it downward. Had to elongate the lower firewall opening, and it several test drives to get the shift adjusted properly. Don't if this will work on your 3100, could worth a look.... dyno dave

  3. Still looking for thoughts. do you see the potential for any headaches if I shorten the shift lever arm by say 1/4" or 5/16"?

Shorten the arms on the H box & the trans the same amount … that would mean on the relay rod for 2-3 on your truck.
