Hey guys, it’s been a minute since I logged in. Life has been wild.

Anyway, two years and counting and I still drive this thing daily. I love how this machine has affected my life for the better.

  4. The main thing is how it makes you feel .
You are not worried about it being a show car or trying to win awards,,,,you just drive it .
That is what they were meant for and it makes your life better .
That is really a good way to feel,,,,congratulations man !
    Cool car,,,keep it going .

My mom had a 59 when I was little.
I still remember standing up in the front seat next to her when she was driving, with the mom emergency seat belt arm at the ready to shoot across my body if needed during fast stops. It a wonder any of us are still here
Nice car glad you’re enjoying it.

Should I rush your rush job or the rush job I was rushing when you rushed in?

  9. Very cool! As my late model POS is about to get beyond the point of making sense to fix, I keep debating doing this too.

This car was cheaper than a later model shit box, it’s fun and easy to fix. I’ve gone through many late model cars. They pass a point where they aren’t worth keeping up with anymore for sure. Payments suck also haha

It gets to the point where it costs more to fix than its worth, and the cycle continues. We here are lucky in that we can keep an older car running and save money-LOTS of it. Most people think I am crazy but my house and all my cars are paid for-now who is laughing! Keep driving that thing as long as you can.

I remember both the city police and the local taxi company had fleets of '59 Fords. The dealer probably scored a good deal from Ford.

I have been driving this one since 2000. Not every day because I spread the driving among many ol cars but its always ready to go. Been to 3 states in it. I overhauled,(not rebuilt) the y-block engine before I began driving it and it looks like its going to run forever.

I drove a ex Michigan state police 59 Ford for a while . Had the interceptor 352 . Wasn't much off the line , but from about 45 on up it was hard to handle.
Nice car. I hope you drive yours forever.

    My almost daily driver.
Need new alternator and or regulator and possibly a windshield wiper motor so I don’t drive it if I need headlights and or windshield wipers.

My pal had a '59 back in '63-'64. What I remember is that every time it went over a bump the radio stopped and we found a tube on the floor.
    regards,

  25. Hey from just over the mountains, through the gorge!
Very cool Drew...I've recently acquired a 4speed (3+OD) to throw in the 54' and plan to do the same. Just haven't been able to with the low gear and 3 speed. I tried I-40 once, 70mph was nerve racking at that RPM! Glad to see you're out there gettin' it!

I never liked the roof on the Custom 300. I refer the formal roof shown here on the Galaxie and I have a Galaxie parts car with good glass and trim but I recently got a 59 Edsel to strip for parts and it uses the same roof as the Ford

Good solid car that is comfortable to drive and easy and inexpensive to maintain. What's not to love.
Yep there is a bit of a risk from it getting hit but it probably will still win a battle with a box with wheels and live to brag about it.
I just sold my 20 year old (Only car I made payments on in 35 years) daily that needed engine work that would cost more than the retail value of the car. It was one of those with the sideways V8 that you have to lower the back of the engine down to change the valve cover gasket and it needed that head pulled because of a blown gasket. No percentage in having it fixed even though it was still a great looking and good driving car.
