@Rocky It was being funky before welding, did not disconnect anything before welding and now it seems to be better.

Got one tack on arc welding it before it threw a breaker in the garage and tig’d the rest.

I’ll throw a meter on it this weekend and see what’s going on

Just now saw this reply sorry Adam lol.

as far as I can tell the battery is done for. Lasted me plenty of years so I can’t be to mad. Currently it’s living on a trickle charger/ maintainer in the garage until spring when I can afford a new battery.

started snowing anyways so oh well. Got the roof all sanded, buffed and polished. Might hit the passenger side one more time but for now it’s better than it was. Driver side is glossier but has same sanding gouges and more burn threw to primer than I’d like to admit to because of my sand paper mix up. Passenger side has no burn threw but has just enough texture that I can’t feel it with my hand but it’s keeping the reflection from being super smooth.

oh well, better than it was. I think as of now the winter to do list is polish all the trim, scrub off excess compounds around the trim. Maybe pull the wheels and tires and clean them. See a lot of guys waxing chrome wheels. Might look more into that.

Get the kick panels installed. Wanted to get to the seats but life blew threw the last couple months and now I’m more focused on the last bit of prep for baby 2 than making progress on the 46 past it being ready to cruise in the spring. Probably get it washed and waxed the start of spring. Wanted to do it before it was cold cold but I think I may of missed my windows of warm days to do it now

In 2020 being optimistic I’d like to change my valve covers to some thicker aftermarket ones because the existing stamped ones are just so warped that they don’t hold a seal very long and I don’t like the idea of “glueing” them on.

Change choke cable to one that actually works, new battery.

Finish at least the back seat upholstery and get the remaining parts to get the new wiper motor to work are my optimistic goals. But I’ll be happy if I can just drive it more than the last two summers.

B1D86724-1C82-4C92-8F49-DD7B24E8BBE3.jpeg Christmas brought me one valve cover I wanted, haha apparently it’s not marked clearly that it’s per not pair. Oh well makes a great track and I’m 50% closer than I was!

also got the edelbrock script choke cable that I’ve been wanting since @Blue One used it in his hot rod project.

I’ve been cussing this binding cheapo one for close to seven years. I actually had it un hooked for most of that time. But after I hooked it back up and saw what a benefit it was when cold I decided I wanted to find a cable that didn’t make me get out of the car and adjust it under hood with pliers every time I wanted to move it.

this one looks really nice and I’m looking forward to how much better the car will start with a functioning choke and a fresh battery this spring

Mini me woke up and told me she wanted to go get donuts in Dadas black car. Can’t argue with that! 06613FB5-9920-44F2-814E-C4FD03192B5F.jpeg decided to take it to work today to blow to cobwebs out and try out the new edelbrock choke cable.

saw @Blue One using one so I made the swap last weekend and it felt a million times smoother. Granted a found a slightly better route for the cable but it’s night and day better. Used it for the first time today and works great! Feels like it doesn’t want to leave the knob all the way in all the time but that’s probably an adjustment away from being good.

Happy to get a drive in today :) even happier that it wasn’t even my idea :)

Can you swing by on the next donut run? Is that a vintage Edelbrock cable or a new one? Why is it better? I have a frozen one now.

    Great thread.

    You bet man!

it’s a new cable, has “edelbrock equipped” in script on the head. My existing cheapo cable always always had either a catch, bind or just wouldn’t work for shit. To the point that I had needle nose pliers in the car to grab the arm on the carb and pull it back.

this new cable feels like it’s Teflon lined. Very very nice hand feel, feels quality made. Nice smooth motion. Works like it’s supposed it.

Came with a very long cable and sheath, I trimmed it to size with a file to avoid linking anything and it took all of a half hour to swap out

Pics or it didn't happen lol.

Still rocking the solid shaft choke and throttle levers but running dual carbs now makes the choke stick a lot .. night need to update that like all the cool kids.

I need to wash mine and get it out.... It's going to be in the Torque fest booth at the swap meet in Des Moines in a couple weeks.

    How's the babes

Guess I haven't update this for a while. Haven't done much other than drive it a bunch the last week or so. We were off work for quite a while so it kinda killed any progress.

spent a lot of time on the A on projects that just needed elbow sweat but I think I’m closer to being able to spend some money and get back to the 46. Haven't even washed it this year. Just haven't really been in the mood I guess...

Anyhow the new choke has made the car about a million times more drivable. By more drivable I mean the get it onto the street song and dance is all but gone.

this car has always been a two foot it into the driveway, then idle it up and then etc. it took a good 10-15 minutes to get going.

after I hooked the old choke up it was better but then I had to open the hood and ya k the choke shut with pliers so it wasn’t really that much better.

If I had a garage door opener this would be just as quick as leaving in one of the late models. Very happy about it 36634B99-AE88-4BA4-8A04-0FCB84B9A858.jpeg AB36BC35-1DB4-48B2-A58C-A1FD68D1B366.jpeg 3377E374-949E-47FC-B1EF-142B59B3B347.jpeg any how. Some photos.

hopefully I’ll have some funds to buy some parts and make progress again soon. Keep ya posted :)

Ok I need to get a chunk of hose for the PCV and maybe repaint that thermostats housing that now bothers me and it’s done. But dang I really wanted to share some photos so I’ll do a quick load of photos and then I’ll ramble with before and after photos later. That way I free up room on my camera and I don't have to try editing text between photos on a small screen. you can probably piece that all together from photos but I’ll share what I actually did once it’s buttoned up
