Unless you're doing a full restoration, those gauges are pretty common. You can easily find a better set that probably won't need much more than a good cleaning, lubrication for the speedo, and installation. Don't forget the voltage reducer for the fuel gauge, that's assuming you will do a 12V conversion. Good and solid looking car. Best of luck to you. I certainly will be following your progress.

  2. Did you retrieve this from that salvage yard you posted photos of earlier? Looks like out west, you should fill out your profile so we know where you are from.
Looks pretty rust free, will make a great project.

I’ll be doing the 12v conversion for sure, I’ve been having a little trouble locating the orig. gauges but I’ll keep looking. Thanks I’ll be needing all the luck I can muster.

I did it’s called L & L classic autos in Wendell ID. If I were a rich man there would be several more cars in my driveway, the place is huge and the inventory is something else. I live in Gooding about 10 mi. North. I’ve been trying to figure out how to update my profile but haven’t been very successful.

Does L & L have a web page? DVAP ( Dessert Valley Auto Parts)or CTC Auto Ranch should have your gauges. Both can be found online.

It is huge, I think its about 120 acres, if I had more money they would have a lot less inventory

  12. Looks like a nice solid car! Congrats and I will be following along. About 15 years ago, I drove a similar 52 and had lots of fun in it. Made lots of trips hauling my two boys in car seats in the back pretty much from the time they were born.

Thanks, so far so good there’s some rust here and there but I haven’t found anything really bad yet. I will try to post as often as I can, I’ll be doing a lot more after my splints are off, of course I’ll be back to work but there’s weekends and evenings to knock things out!

Thanks for the info J_J2, I'll look them up. Good to see that you have a solid project to start with. A rust bucket can be very discouraging.

I built my own to haul engines around my property. Larger wheels and several points of attachment to secure tie downs, chains to drag it, and more. A lot heavier duty. Paid for itself the first time I used it.

Got my splints and sutures removed today, I had to do something, so I cleaned up and put a coat of paint on the intake manifold today. At least it was something.

  27. Nice project. You might try Bob Owens at Owens Salvage Co., in Wellington, Tx., he's easy to work with plus he's a H.a.m.b. Alliance vendor.
