My A/T (700r4) shifted late and mushy. TV cable adjusted properly (self adjusting style with ratchet thing at carb). Fist thing I did was get a governor spring and weight kit, put it light springs and weights. Helped the shift timing but still mushy. Then I bought a Corvette servo, that really firmed up the shifts but the 1-2 shift now comes in late under light to normal acceleration.

Thinking I need to play with the governor again but I don't understand the relationship between the weights and springs. Is it somewhat like a distributor, where the springs control the rpm and the weights control the curve?
