It never made sense to me to use your trailing arms as a nerf bar, too. The later should protect the former.

I'm not that knowledgeable in suspension but yes that Triangulated Bar ahead of the rear tires appears attached to the Wishbone style rearward bone or trailing arm I think is what your referring too. Perhaps that was a race mod being experimented with I wonder? It would be interesting to know if handling was effected...

That takes out the collision of the two purpose built components if they were built separately as in functioning so close together. It also eliminates designing a two part setup.

I think even the Trailing arm attaching to the side instead of being triangulated towards the driveshaft is also a frowned upon street mod...due to Component stress...

I've seen this one more than one oval tracker. Makes no sense, because if you get nerfed (bumped from the side) then there is a good chance your entire rear suspension would be hozed. And it adds unsprung weight, ta boot. The nerf bars need to be attached firmly to the frame, over and around the trailing arms.

This must have got a little smokey inside at times...perhaps the Slicks are separated by tubs and the cabin separate from that hazy burning rubber...

Was this class governed by weight as I would think adding a body would not increase ET...is this a Comp Coupe?

...Bud Crackbon of the Pathfinders CC had this unique Tracknose Roadster Pickup, captured that Big Trophy at the 1952 National Roadster Show and in the early 80's it was sold and purchased restored and retains its 52 ambience quite miraculously...

A Thread by Hamber @R&C RON below includes this Hotrod above and despite some red x's it still provides a glimpse into The Good Ole days...Ron I know you haven't been on in a while but hope Good Health is with you...hope to see you back here as you experienced some great things indeed...

Evidently that cafe was a movie prop. Was the coupe in the movie?

I am really not sure of the connection but I suspect he may have been at a Film Studio for an Hotrod event. The pic doesn't lead to more info unfortunately...heck I can't even find the the Paradise Place in reference anywhere...

There was a reference to the movie that said it was filmed at a drive in theater, and cafe was a set.
As a kid when we traveled from Texas to California a lot I remember at least two cafes with real WWII airplanes
built into them. One was a P51, I think, like it crashed through the roof and inside the prop was a ceiling fan. Driving across the country was a lot more interesting then. No one was hiding from our history.

Thanks Mike...My passion is the diversity of the Hotrod Evolution, Warts and all...there was plenty of incredible things going on in that Big Picture. Of course there is the rest of the team adding to that with content and support of course...thank you all...;)

Even revisiting and resharing older posts with further info and other pics helps in putting things into perspective is something I greatly enjoy...

    Sadly, it closed in 2004.
Great eats? Not really. It was famous for listing the steak in the menu as: "tenderness not guaranteed". It was an old, tobacco-stained greasy spoon with a great atmosphere, especially when Dick Dickerson cranked the tremolo on the organ and everyone sang along. Most of the waitresses had been there for decades. One of my friends ordered a shake. The waitress said: "No." He'd been in food service and had always wanted to do that. He tipped her double. Now the site is another anonymous Amazon building. As if we needed another reason to hate them...
