  2. { A Story } I probably shouldn't share this. But I was never into drugs or alcohol. But this may have been worst! Back in the day I'd love to get in the Vette or Hot Rod late at night. I would drive out in the country on an old deserted road. I'd put in one of my 8 track tapes. I had an 8 track recorder, and could record all my favorite music. I liked mostly instrumentals { Dick Dale} { the Ventures } { David Allen & the Arrows } {Booger T & the MGs} {Jan & Dean} { Beach Boys } The Surfaris} { The Astronauts} etc. Between the Cool music and open headers. Also with the banging gears, crying tires, and blasting tunes! There just wasn't a better HIGH ! Now I just watch You Tubes, and the HAMB. But every once in a while about 2: oo AM in da morning. I'll get in the old Hot Rod, and well I'll just say I'm 16 all over again. To you police officers out there. I did say 8 track tapes, so think statue of limitations! Ron......

    A memory about this concert:
It was 1978. Our team had returned a few days prior to the concert from a race at Road Atlanta. We paid for the trip by filling the bed of Joe Burch's Dodge longbed crew dually with Coors beer, covering it with a tarp and making a Smokey and the Bandit run Dallas to Atlanta towing the car trailer. Paid for the concert tickets too.

Days and long nights on a road in Dallas called "California Crossing".
(ETA: Yeah the 2014 movie "Need For Speed" used that name for a soundtrack song. Dunno why.)

For long drives in the daytime I like the Allman Bros and Les Dudek. For long night drives; Jean Luc Ponty’s Aurora and Storyteller.
Around town it’s everything from the Bangles to Steely Dan to Joe Jackson.

Before he went to New York City and got famous playing "Baby" in Rocky Horror Picture Show, Marvin Lee Aday (aka Michael Lee Aday, aka Meat Loaf) rode Harleys around Dallas with David Allan Coe and a bunch of us. Rabbi-Pope-Pope Ivan Stang of Church of the SubGenius and Richard Chase (Dick's Last Resort, Chase Lounge and along with Sandy Alexander, Prez of Hells Angels NYC, produced the movie Hell's Angels Forever) hung out too. We partied after midnight on top floors of downtown parking garages. Called them "Temples" and numbered for where the night's party was - Temple One, Temple Two etc. We wrecked that town.

  24. If 1965 is the cut-off, I've got to go with Roy Orbison with the Everly Brothers as the opening act.
I like a lot of the newer stuff you guys are posting, too. But it's just not traditional. :p

    Jennifer Paige 64 Pontiac Convertible

    Hello,

One of my wife’s favorite road trip songs is one she heard years ago. It is Jennifer Paige’s hit song, “Crush.”… “It’s just a little crush…” in the video, the music, as always, is great. The added plus is the pristine 1964 Pontiac Convertible. Here we go with the “girls and convertibles” theme again.
    upload_2020-3-22_4-8-14.png
Not only did it get played on the Ipod Touch playlist, but when we were detailing or washing the sailboat after a hard day’s sail of 4 hours, that “beat” just made us want to complete the job with gusto. “…it just a little crush…” We don’t listen to any music when sailing…it is another world with its wind, cutting through the ocean, waves and just seeing everything from a different perspective. No need for super speed, it is you against (and how you adapt to) nature.

upload_2020-3-22_4-9-49.png It is a good thing that our two car garage holds only two cars and no other convertibles, this 64 Ponitac or even her favorite:

  26. To listen to music while diving, I would have to have a radio. Why would I want play music? I have a straight piped hot rodded 261 six!
