This straight post chop has really nice clean lines, I'd love to see where all of the cuts were made on this one.
That picture made my day Mick! Thanks so much for posting! Joe "The Fonz" Carloni was one of my personal heroes even though I never got to meet him. Like his cars or not, he was The King of backyard builds! E
I went to the Starbird show in Tulsa around the late 70's this is when I saw the Green Flame Merc. It was a kool kustom introduction to chopped Mercurys. Shortly after that my passion for Mercs was confirmed when I saw Jack Walker's Hirohata clone. I thought that they were just kool museum pieces until I got to see one cruise down the street. Gary Mundy built The Godfather Mercury and it just blew my mind. It was kool to see this picture posted on one of the KKOA Spectacular threads. Thanks for posting the picture... Wish I had video......
Wish I had video...... View attachment 4573701 [/QUOTE] Awesome Man. I have a 2 hour home video of the 86 Leadsled show in Sringfield MO.
I'm 99% sure it is. It was an Omaha car for a looong time. My pics of his car were in my build album for my '51 Merc. Album went to person that bought from me, I haven't seen it since. I don't recall Dave's car having bubble skirts, but that is probably just my poor memory. As a "new" owner if this car, one would think the first change would be a trip to the chrome plater for bumpers, grill, etc...
^^^^ Ya that`s his old Merc. Scanner not working or I`d post a pic. At the leadsleds in Springfield Illinois, there was a 4-dr chopped Merc all blacked out. Even had bubble skirts and a visor. Looked pretty darn good. After seeing Dave`s later on, it didn`t compare to the 4-dr.
