One more from Israel. I want that GMC van in the back but it probably has been made into Uzi SMGs long ago...:(

This one is in Oak Hill, West Virginia. The building is still there and looks the same as it did back then.

Oak Hill is where Hank Williams Sr. was declared DOA and autopsied back in 1953.

Yes, the station where he was declared dead at was about a mile from this one. They tore it down 14 or so years ago. I have a picture of it somewhere, if I find it I'll share it also.

I've got a photo of the vacant site, when the wife and I made a "Lost Highway" trip a few years ago, tracing Hank's 'last ride' from the Redmont Hotel in Birmingham to the morgue in Oak Hill. They apparently tore down the station in 2007.

I picked up a few pieces of tile from the station site when I was there; it's rumored that the guy who owned the station (or one of his employees) absconded with Hank's cowboy hat out of his Cadillac, since they apparently left the car parked there in storage until Hank's mom could bring it back to Montgomery. The hat was never found, and I believe the station owner commitment suicide years later.

    I've heard similar stories.

I couldn't find the old photo I have of the station from the 1950s but I found this one online. It didn't really change any. It's what it looked like before they tore it down. It was still in good shape. From my understanding there was some sort of disagreement between the city, the owner and some group that wanted to turn it into a Hank museum so the owner just tore it down. Was sad to see it go.

Yeah, I took a piece of the blue roofing tile from the site.
