To me, bubble skirts aren`t a one size fits all. They have to made for your specific car. And follow the contours of the body as well as the side trim. Some follow that example and other don`t. Don`t expect to buy a pair and stick them on and think they are gonna work. I think a lot of the ones I posted above need to be reworked for better fitment. I`m not fond of cars laying frame that look broken but I don`t complain every time one is posted. Scan0162.jpg

OK, back to my original question or topic. After looking at all of these examples. I think the best avenue is to sell the 55 and buy a Merc. ;)

You never liked the lowrider aspect of customs. See what I mean by store bought bubble skirts. 2019-08-30_214707.jpg

I love radical customs and despite the massive amount of fab work on this car, aside from the beltline trim {stock} this poor car does not have a good line on it. Roothawg as far as your question is concerned I think the cruiser skirts fit the lines of the 55 best . Extending the factory 55's would also be good or custom building flush fit cruiser skirts. Just depends on your metal fab skills and how much time you want to invest. The cruiser skirts are basicly bolt on and give it the log low custom look. Main thing is Happy Wife Happy Life!;) Larry

I think the lines should flow and be appealing to the eye.

Bubble skirts that look like an oversize blister may be custom but,
can also look out of place and just plain gaudy.

How did a question about cruiser skirts turn into a discussion of bubble skirts?

Cruisers are flat and long but fit the body style of some cars well (as several photos in this thread demonstrate). Bubble skirts are fantastic in the sense that they can be easily removed and would probably make a good sled for the kids in a pinch.

I think after all of this good advice, I will attempt to make a set or cut a set down to flush fit.
