Broken record? No way a broken record is annoying. You are just adding more kool history to the thread. Thank you for taking the time to link the two together.

My scanner isn`t working yet. A family friend was here last Wednesday for 3 1/2 hours and is coming here tonight to try and get it working. I have 100`s more pic`s from the early 80`s. The pic`s I `ve posted are ones I already have scanned.

Go for it Mark. My computer won`t let me start threads or start conversations. EEERRRR...…….
I have 100`s of picture`s is no exaggeration. Maybe closer to 1000 from the 80`s. I will only post 1 or 2 a day to keep the threads going.

  17. That is Jan and Norm Wehr's incredible convertible. The Wehrs were big time custom folks with some fine rides over the years.
If I've got the information correct, they bought the "I Cut It" Merc from John Schmidt.

They redid the car making it their own. It was renamed "The Twilight Zone". This picture was taken by our own @54delray.

The Wehrs were regulars at the Spectacular for many years. They really hit the jackpot as they won the KKOA giveaway Merc at the 1992 Leadsled Spectcular in Holland, Michigan. Here is the car after they got it and changed the blackwalls and terrible aluminum directional wheels to wide whites and wires. This pic courtesy of @Moriarity.

The Wehrs also had a '39 Merc custom that was in the
second KKOA book on page 57.

They also had a '39 Lincoln Zephyr that was also in the second KKOA book on page 166.

Sadly Mr. Wehr passed away sometime before the 2003 KKOA book was published, as both '39s were posted as a memorial tribute.
I've heard that Mrs. Wehr is still into customs, but can't get around to well these days.
We had a long discussion on the Schmidt/Wehr Merc over on the W.E.H.T. thread a while ago. Here's a link if you want to check out all the details. If you do, hold on to your hat. The Schmidt/Wehr Merc has a lot of history behind it, and it gets confusing. Still a fun read though. E

The Larry Ernst Chevy. A catholic priest from Ohio had the Barris`s build it. Since he was a priest, he hid it as it was a no no to have a custom for his profession. Scan0071.jpg Scan0072.jpg

The 1988, I think, show was the first car show I ever went to. I was only a spectator. The car I remember most was a red and black 1957 Buick. I always wanted one of those cars and now I finally have one. Just have to sell something so I can fix it to where I want it. I have the magazine that featured this show. The other car that I remembered was a 40's Packard.

The 40`s Packard was Richard Ratty`s Evening Shadow. It was built by Doug Thompson. It won the coveted Harry Bradley award. Car`s that Doug built cars won that award 5 years in a row. Scanner problems or I`d post a pic of it.

  23. I was at the first 11 KKOA meets but in all these pictures I've never seen any pictures of my 50 Chevy, 59 Cadillac , 59 El Camino or 72 Riviera. I guess others didn't find them picture worthy. Oh well. '50 Chevy 003.JPG

  26. Dave, I have always admired your cars over the years. They always showed restraint and good taste, which I believe has mostly been lost on many customs. I believe I have some shots from the first KKOA meet of you Chev I'll try to post.
Here's a bad photo of our cars in front of the old KKOA sign.

  27. Thanks, that's my mild custom 50 Chevy before the Appleton 112s, painted the hood center strip and single bar spinners. I had 54 Chevy caps on it. The 59 Cadillac was a stock black convertible. I had in Holland in about 1990.
