Wow ever since you posted a 1/2 done pic of it on a thread of mine awhile back I've been dyin' to know what happened it looks wicked!...that spring hanger is genius:D and that steering is an out of the "box" idea ;)...but I have seen the 3 pce. style cranks with the alloy arms get wallered out and loose many many times as they are a friction fit (alloy to steel) and have a lot more components to go wrong upload_2020-2-7_20-37-19.jpeg ...the good news is the older style bikes used to have a cast 1 pce crank you will need the outer races but because bike parts are usually universal you can probably keep the bottom bracket you've already welded on, it should be the same size upload_2020-2-7_20-27-35.jpeg

  5. I like how you are building it with what you have available. It's going to be unique and not a cookie-cutter 34 coupe!

This time it’s a 33 coupe deck lid skin that was removed from a friends car in favor of a straighter piece. Fits pretty good for a set of quarters made from a Tudor, and a pair of bent up fenders.

9A66BC43-FB0D-42DF-BB5E-EE1EF85A08FE.jpeg I’m not sure what I’m going to do there yet. It’s hard to see in the pic, but that step is made into the hood.there is supposed to be a hood emblem there as well.

Yea, I think I’ll get the emblem and make the nose all one color before I decide.

  17. Holy cow. This build is killer! Amazing work!

I'm not one that chimes in on this sort of thing usually, and maybe I missed it earlier in the thread, but I was just wondering. Are you thinking of bringing that beltline down to meet that step in the hood?

    Down and dirty photshop:

AC3846A1-88D0-4A0A-967F-16004D3CE4F5.jpeg Well, as the saying goes, “nobody puts baby in the corner”. Well I had to put it in the corner, I need to do some side work so I can buy car parts, so I’m putting it away for a couple of weeks to chop a model a coupe, box a frame and build a chassis for another a coupe and get some money together for the big 3 swap meet.

I have to say, I really liked the partial '40 grille. Gave the front end some great texture and allowed time airflow to the engine. Just my two cents.

  24. You pay shipping and I'll store it for you while you chop that coupe ;)

I liked it too. I’m just mocking things up. It might make its way back, and it might not. We will see.

The big 3 is in San Diego. It’s the last one and I grew up there, so I am making the trip to
See old friends and walk the swap one last time. Its more about the trip than it is the swap.

    Jim,

I know you didn't ask for it, and I know you sure don't need it, but here are my 2 cents on the the nose design on your coupe. I am really struggling with the "underbite" on the grill and having it extend further than the leading edge of the nose on the hood.

The car a has a great proportion - it's low and the length really works with that. To that end, I would recommend that you extend the nose of the hood to bring it flush with the grill, and then smooth the two together...

Thanks for bringing us all along for the ride.
