Check Ebay's "completed items" and see what they sold for. The lower the numbers on the plate, the better. I see some sold for LOTS of money. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...rk+license+plate&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1
Just my thoughts, but unless plates are within the dates that cars are around and even more important, if they aren't popular yrs. like 1932 or 1934 etc. they may not be as desirable. Not too many 1910 cars running around. That said, condition is another important attribute so without pictures, it would be purely speculation.
Condition is the most important factor in determing value, if the number is 5-diits or more. Post a picture.
my friend got 2 grand for a 1911, i think, anyway, first year for a metal plate in minnesota. before that you were assigned a number and made the plate from leather and got numbers from the store. 1910 is early, find out when ny first issued a metal plate. i would ebay it for the biggest audience
I originally thought the numbers were riveted leather. I have not even wiped the plate off. . It's got a slight bit of age on it
Maybe $100.00 in that condition. NYS started issuing license plates in the 2nd half of 1910. Before then, the registrant was given a number and was responsible for making or buying a plate with the numbers given and displaying them on the vehicle. Some were made using a thick piece of harness leather and metal house numbers riveted onto the leather. The plate pictured is a state issued plate.
TagMan I've always thought a good PAIR of plates from any year are worth more than a single. Wonder haw many sets were broken up to make a few more bucks. Bob
first year, and really only half a year, and only a hundred bucks? i think its in pretty good shape myself. usually they are full of nail holes from nailing the plate over mouse holes in the grainery. thats where to look at old farm sites
NEVER argue license plates with a guy named "Tagman" Found 5 1910 NY that sold on the 'bay. All were $200-$300.
I took photos, just don't know were they are, years ago I went to look at an old barn that was due to be torn down. Two walls were "shingled" with license plates. Owner would go to the DMV and get all the unissued plates. He neatly nailed then as they came out of the boxes in pairs. None were worth saving, just glad I got to see them. Bob
Ya I'll prob put it on ebay next week. I wish I had a set but no luck with that. This plate was in a shed on a piece of property I bought 5 years ago
