I agree bob... when I started using it, it was called sili-kroil…
best stuff I have ever used...
and $18 a can is cheap when it breaks the bolt loose and nothing else does...
but don't waste it like it was $2 a can wd40...
told a kid down the street to try it...
he cried when he had to pay for it,
but ended up getting his truck stuff loose and fixed a couple adjustable wrenches for dad...

This is a door that Sloppy pulled off of a doodle bug that was sitting deep in the woods of Maine
I gathered up all my scraps let's see if I can make something. The inner panel was very thin and buckled so I cut out the bad and fit in a passenger side piece. 20191129_154556.jpg . . .

I dug out a sedan door that had intact inner structures and most of the bottom so I spliced some from it 20191130_165401.jpg 20191130_175436.jpg into the coupe door. The sedan door has a decent top on it too so I will be grafting that at a later time

Went up to visit @sloppy jalopies today with a couple pals. Smitty is making great progress on his project. He has a garage and yard full of early Ford stuff, everywhere you look. In the rafters, on the walls, in the corners, upstairs, outside, everywhere! He is also a wealth of knowledge and doesn't mind sharing. It was 9 degrees up there but I wasn't cold because I was too busy looking for goodies!
Smitty hooked me up with coupe door tops and a bunch of other sheet metal scraps.
    Thanks again Smitty! 20200118_151714.jpg

Had a couple hours in the hideout today
I cut out a crispy but better than none inner door piece from the donor sedan door.
Measured a few times, cut, fit, cut again,
    Then welded it up. 20200202_141144.jpg 20200202_141325.jpg 20200202_154058.jpg

I scored a repop pass side inner structure from Mike B. of course. So I fit one side of that, more soon 20200202_212659.jpg 20200202_212721.jpg so now I have to cut out the rust and make new pieces at the corners, yay!

Sometimes I look at the crap i am working with and I say " what am I doing!???"
But the parts honestly are a little better than they show in the pictures. And I am having fun patching the rust. Maybe it's a challenge thing.
If I can make something from scraps, I feel good about it.

Got a few hours in the garage today, lit a fire and got some grinding and welding done on the passenger side door. 20200329_145706.jpg 20200329_145656.jpg

The side had rot holes in it so I made a piece for that too. Alot of fitment, cut and grind. 20200329_192222.jpg 20200329_192232.jpg 20200329_192244.jpg
I posted a thread asking the height of a coupe door and 20 minutes later Continental John hooked me up- Thanks bud. 20200329_151722.jpg

    Hold the phone,
memory says a '30 coupe door is slightly taller [at the B jam than the A jam] .
measure between bottom of the beltline and the top of the lower bead...
I will post the A jam and B jam measurements Monday, raining now...
    .
well this ain't the wizard of oz... I won't melt...
measured a door that still had a slight bead crease at the bottom...
painted over measurement was with bead curled up... didn't let the tape drop all the way down,
bent the ragged edge back to normal,
front was 21 3/8"... the rear was 21 1/2"... cross checked on my sportster quarter... 21 1/2". DSCN5795.JPG

I have a couple used coupe door skins, not perfect but better than what I see in the pix above...
    free ron, come get them...
was just given [4] more '30-'31 truck doors. no tops,
all cut up, patches taken but may be enough left to float your boat...

That is the rust you can't get to between parts of the body tin and the support structures inside. Like a cowl and the braces inside or a door skin and the inner door panels.

wire brush and then paint the daylights out of it...
interior rust is not going to eat the tin like it did because these cars are never going to be left outside as the were in their last life...
