Here it is. He owned Western Wheel and Rim in Oakland. We Norcal folks like to give him credit for inventing chrome, reverse rims
I have to agree with you in that its a little short. 2-3" longer would look great. The beauty of a roadster pickup, is that you can individualize it easily, buy doing things like you've done - shifting it on the frame, shortening the bed etc.
Anyone got any pictures of George Poteet's 31 rpu powered by a 292 Chevy 6? I believe its was the first to use the extended cab by Brookville.
Yeah, I know, not a roadster but not a pickup by strict terms either. A sport coupe pickup by my reckoning. Followed me home today! Guess if you are as old as me, things appeal to me that don't to anyone else. Nice job putting the top on it, unsnaps and folds and I like the rollup windows.
You have got to start paying your Secretary more money. Poor lass can't even afford proper fitting clothes !!! Second thought, pay her less. Don
Is your RPU body stretched? If so where ? and did you shorten the box or alter the wheelbase ? I cant make my mind up, probably just the angle of the picture? I looked for a build thread , but couldn't find one.
Yes I stretched the frame 5”, the doors 3” and the quarters 2”. The bed is original. I’m not organized enough to do a build history. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thank you, that's more or less what I thought . I had estimated 6 inches, which is where I am going with my one. I have owned it for over 50 years, but after a friend borrowed it and crashed it, it sat for a long time. I was rebuilding it and one day I sat in another friends one.... time and age had taken it's toll, I got in , but I had grown too round in the middle.... I would never have been able to drive it...the poor car went back into hibernation. Then I recently saw this one with doors extended , he has shortened the bed. It is OK , but somehow the shortened deck and lack of space between the rear of the cab and the front of the rear fenders makes it look odd to me. My new plan is pretty much what you have done , I have stepped and stretched the frame and will lengthen the doors valances and running boards 6 inches . I am replacing the flathead that has been in there for 50years plus with a hot banger and 5 speed , with the extra wheelbase I think I will be able to do that and not shorten the torque tube, ( flathead has a new home in my other project). Can I request another couple of pictures? Rolling frame without body, and how you did the doors? If I ask for enough different pictures , we will have our build thread
