To me the only thing that improves a 40 coupe is to clean every thing off the trunk lid. Just sayin.

I like the New changes you have made -- black wheels and black standard headlight doors. Later Bill

40 Coupes are the one Ford that normally look far better unchopped than chopped. Probably because Most guys don't get the quarter windows right or the slope of the roof right.
I used to see the one that 34Larry posted in post 6 a lot about 30 years ago and the chop is about as close to spot on as you will ever find on a 40.
The blue one that A Boner just nails it for a full custom 40 though.

Ever since the early 70's my wife has had a thing for red 40 coupes. At the street rod Nationals in Tulsa in 1973 every time I couldn't find her all I had to do was look for the red 40 coupe that was sitting out in the middle of the open area and she usually wasn't far away from it.

I’ve said it for years, you don’t need shiny wheels to have beautiful 40.
    Poverty caps,rich in class.

Love all the pics of 40's!! On the hunt for another one. The tan std I pictured earlier is a super car and the fellow is up in age and is considering selling it. Nice car! Makes no sense as I like to build them but seriously considering bringing it back home. Wife really liked that one too.

Just got this about two months ago. Shit ton of rust in the floor and rear sheetmetal.
Cutting and patching wheel wells and about two feet up between the door and rear wheel wells. New floor and rear valance ,[IMG] IMG_1986.JPG IMG_1994.JPG and inner tool tray too.

Looks like a good start on a build, Mike. How about a thread also?

At a city park this afternoon with my 3 yr old granddaughter "bridging the gap" between my 80-yr-old Ford and her parents' 2-yr-old car, one o' them electric things.

Blown Flathead- very nice! I’m trying to decide which route to go on my ol 39. I like what you’ve done there.
