Hi guys ! need some tech info on change over to juice brakes on my 36 ford. The wheels are no problem but can someone tell me how I can mount the master cylinder ? Is there a kit to do this ? Can I use say a 40 petal assy to accomplish this ? Many thaks Mercuryguy
Try contacting Richard Lacy at [email protected] (mail), (626) 338-2282. Relative to your comment on the '40 pedal assembly, I believe most guys use the '39 due to the location of the clutch lever (I still recommend contacting Richard Lacy). Charlie Stephens
I'd say find a complete 39 Ford brake and clutch pedal assembly. Other than opening the hole in the crossmember a little, it's basically a bolt-in. A 40 assembly is different and would need you to change the clutch throwout shaft. Lots more work.
This thread has excellent illustrations in Post #3, https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272261 Charlie Stephens
When researching the same think I found this thread which mentions a bracket and your stock pedals. Maybe it will help. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/need-help-39-pedals-in-33-ford-truck.686628/
If you manage to find the 39 pedal assembly you will also need the clutch actuating arm (shiny black in the picture) if your using the stock 36 transmission. Reproductions are available, but if you have a chance to get it too, grab it. I wish I would have been told this before I converted, so I'm passing the info on now. Here is another picture of my installation in case someone needs more for reference.
Yeah i would modify your existing pedal. I've done a few that way. And used a master cylinder from a slightly off topic 68 Ford F100 with drum brakes. 7:1 ratio on your brake pedal.
