A vw bug with more rust and bondo than steel. A guy turned left in front of me in the rain and stalled it. When I hit him all the bondo fell off in chunks into the street and the car was crunched to the firewall. I got a 68 Charger with a 440 after that and saw the light of Mopar.

Mine was a 1947 Ford pickup, given to me by my uncle. I had it painted candy apple red and put a 255 cu.in. Mercury flathead in it, then drove the wheels off it! There was nothing like it in our town, everybody knew who owned it and before I would get home, my Dad was getting he phone calls!

The first car I bought was a 61 Olds 88 2 door hardtop. $300. Before that I only drove the boring family cars like a VW bus, Volvo wagon, Triumph TR4A, a couple of Morgans, a (real) Lotus Super 7 and a Morris Mini Traveler Wagon. I now own the Morris and I am trying to get a '36 Morgan sent here from the East Coast.
    The fun never ends!

When I was in high school I bought a 1950 Ford 2 door sedan. In auto mechanics class I built a 1953 Olds engine with 4 speed hydro, put on a J-2 manifold, and all of this went into that car

I traded my bicycle for a 56 Ford Ranch Wagon, 292 with an automatic. I was 15 and the lady at the tax office never asked for my ID. You were supposed to be 21 to get a vehicle titled in your name.

  20. The first one I owned that I had insurance and plates for was '72 super beetle, then a 79 subaru brat, then a 79 mustang hatchback 4cyl/4spd...
All of them were bought for less than $500 each... and it showed...LOL

'48 Crosley wagon : $35/drove it home. 1964. Learned to drive a "crash-box"(non-synchro transmission) in it. This was in PA where the roads are usually narrower & slower, but now in CA it would be a dangerous vehicle due to being so much slower than the other vehicles on the road, never mind even thinking about taking it on a freeway!!! LOL!!

40 Ford convertible in Wappingers Falls, NY around 1961 for 200 bucks. Had a 265 Chevy.
Saw it about 20 years ago in a shop in LaGrangeville, NY.. It was a pile of disassembled parts and pieces laying in the corner of the shop.
Owner said he was going to restore it. Don't know if that ever happened.

1965 Mustang 2+2 fastback in around 1976. 289 with a bit of work done, auto and 57 Ford rear axle with 4.11 gears. Went pretty good and was only $800 at the time.

A 1950 Ford half ton pickup, running driving flathead v8. I drove it home from wear my dad took me to buy it. I parked it and dad said we are now going to get 4 new tires for it and you will pay me back for them! The tires cost more than the truck! That was early in the summer and when winter came I noticed the rear tires were not to great anymore ( insert dum ass kid here ) I went to school in Slinger Wi and a lot of the old modified drivers were local. They were not real long done running flatheads and had lots of parts. I got headers, twin carb manifold and carbs for it. Also help in setting it up. I drove it about 40,000 miles and a wrist pin got against the cylinder wall. I found a 67 z28 302 chevy engine and a Muncie 4 speed and installed it. It was lots more fun after that ( insert Idiot here)! When I was a senior in high school I started racing stock cars and my 302 went to that duty and the truck got a 307. I still have the truck and have not driven it since 1974. I will remedy that at some future date. Gary:):D:rolleyes:

  28. First "official" 1968 Camaro RS. 327ci/275hp 4 speed, loaded with options and only had 36,000 original miles. Still have the car and wont part with it, lol. I grew up in the cab of my 33 and laid claim to it as a toddler, but it didnt officially become mine until much later, lol.

  30. My first car I bought myself was in 1983. 1953 Ford F100 red with Crager S/S wheels the guy I bought it from put a 327 Chevy in it with a 400 trans with a B&M Quik Silver shifter, had headers and straight pipes. Black tuck and roll bench seat. I gave $400 for it and drove it home
