does anyone make heater hose that can be bent to a 45 degree angle without kinking, I know there are molded pieces with a 45 but only short pieces
How long do you need it to be on each side of the bend? Sent from my SM-G955F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Out of the heater then a close 45, then about 4" to another 45 in the opposet direction and then straight to the engine
I have a older Corvette and needed a unique 90 degree bend. My solution was to use a copper plumbing elbow with two clamps...worked perfect. You can find 45 degree copper unions as well. They fit snugly inside the heater hose, allowing you to clamp the tightly. Just a idea for you. Bob
Go to an old school parts place, most will let you go in the back to see the hoses they have in stock. You can ask a box store like autozone or o'reillys but they may not let you go behind the counter.
Did go thru the parts store but they just had short stuff , trying to do one piece and not have a bunch of connectors
My local parts store sells a hose called Gates shape N Fit heater hose that is reinfored with a wire. You can bend it 180* without it kinking. Great product, only drawback is that it is quite ugly if you are intending to build a show car.
Don't know how street-roddie you want to be,but you could do it with Cool-flex pretty easily Sent from my moto g(6) using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hose support spring. Goes inside the hose, made of stainless steel. https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/hose-inner-support-springs KK
I'm not finding it online right now but the printed Gates and probably Napa hose catalog (s) have a section that shows pictures of every molded heater hose that they list. you may have to buy a hose with several other bends on the other end to cut the section out of but you may find what you need there. I can't see anyone using that damned copper house plumbing on a hot rod and anyone suggesting that crap needs to be slapped alongside the head. Leave that stuff to the rat rod brigade. On the other hand an HVAC shop might be able to bend up the correct size stainless or aluminum tube with the right bends and the roll at the end to retain the hose for a reasonable cost to where you just use short pieces on each end to connect it.
Start looking: https://www.gates.com/us/en/resourc...logs/molded-coolant-hose-identification-guide I have the catalog saved on my computer and I use google for images after I find a few numbers I like.
Not sure if the USA market had the 1994-2000 Nissan Skyline's.. If you did, it could be worth doing a "Google image" search.. Their heater hoses are long, with many bends in them. Might be something there you could use..
Please take the time to find the hose that works. The chrome corrugated stuff and the flexible wire covers all belong to the billet crowd.
IMO... make the heater hoses a little long so you can switch which hose flows in and which flows out... switch the ends every year... may flush some sludge out of the core... helps stop back ups.
