Last ones for today. Earl Britt's Pizza Man Corvette has been well photographed, but here are a couple from my collection. Last one today.
Sunday postings. But first apologies to the Mopar and Ford contingent. It may look like my friends and I took only photos of tri five Chevrolets. But the truth is there are a lot of photos of both brands, the problem is they are either too new for the H.A.M.B. or have the dreaded Cragar Super Trick wheels, a sure way to get your posting deleted.
Like the lettering on the door in this shot. Pretty sneaky. Could just as easily have named this car "The Bird".
Vinfab in a post above posted a couple of pics of Earl Britt in the 1954 Corvette that ran in E/MP in 1967. I was wondering if anyone had the class results for the 1967 Tulsa World Finals. I have a notation that he won class in October 1967 at Southwest Raceway but I am not sure if it was the October 29th World Finals. If he did win class at that event it would make four national event wins for him in 67 in that he won at Pomona, Bristol and Indy. Anyone know for a fact?
Does anyone know if Carroll & Ralph actually raced against each other and when? They were many miles apart and I would have to think maybe Indy but never saw any photos or stories.
Dick Moroso also was from Ridgefield, Connecticut at that time and he also made the trip to Tulsa. He told me at 6:AM they were in Bristol, Tenn. and at 6M they were still in Tenn. His comment to me was that is the longest state to drive through he had ever seen! Jimbo
Hoefer Brothers D/MP Indy 1964 Tow bar brackets, Cal to Indy was a long tow then but thats how you did it.
The legendary Bobby Lagana out of New England. He later went on to race fuel dragsters and funny cars. His sons Bobby Jr and Dom are part of Steve Torrence's championship winning top fuel team and also run their own T/F car with Dom driving at some events. Roo
Roo, Is this Billy Lagana’s brother?? Billy had the ‘Locomotion’ Z11 Impala out of NY pictured a few pages back...
I was not sure that was true as it was well before my time in the US and I only knew Bobby Sr from when we match raced his Twilight Zone a few times at Epping, E'town etc. I checked Bill Pratt's Draglist.com and both are listed as being out of Mount Kisko, NY at one time so I called Bobby Jr and checked. Billy is alive and well and living in Florida and will be hanging out with Bobby Jr and Dom in the Torrence pit at Gainesville during the Gatornationals. Bobby said that the Z-11 had factory backing. Roo
I know that Champion Automotive Engineering was located at 151 Brook Street in Eastchester, New York back in the 60's but I thought they lived in either Mount Kisco or Mamarineck or that area of New York Jimbo
Benchseat, Billy Lagana is Bobby's brother and did have the Locomotion Impala. There was also another Lou Lagana that raced also. Pat
The Locomotion Z-11 was restored many years ago and raffled off by the Late Great Chevy Assoc. I don't know who owns it now. The car was always in very nice condition and never cut up to be a modified or gasser like a lot of them. Verne
The Aluminator IS the Billy Lagana car. Later it was also painted red, white & blue and called the American Way. Verne
