Now it really is the Purple Sedan Beater. Dads sedan looks like his radiator and cowl are covered in purple paint flowing off your car when you blow by him.

That’s one neat looking ride. We have a similar style over here too. They are called utilities, but I have never seen one done as a gasser.

Yes, I think it’s really cool how they continued building them over there. I’ve got a sweet spot for the oddball cars.

That’s the idea! I don’t think he’ll want to line up after the new engine is complete. It should be a runner.

Cleveland heads but with the 8.2 deck 302 block. These won’t be the heads we are using they are just spares for building the headers.

If everything is supposed to be built to 67 rules and specs.... How are the Cleveland heads legal?

Newer style heads are allowed to make the cars to be able to be built fast by the average guy. If everyone had every part within the engine to be older than 67 it would get expensive as old speed parts are hard to come by. Newer aluminum heads are allowed also but they are required to be painted. Just like msd boxes can be used but they have to be hidden.

Anyone viewing this thread know where I can find a 60’s era electric tach that goes to 10,000 rpm they would be willing to sell? Please let me know of any leads.

Picked the car up from lettering. It looks very good. John McCarty at Outlaw Tees does great work. Super Old School Guy. Still waiting on pistons but everything else is ready.

Basically engine rules for the SEGA dictate that the engine geometry and layout is 1970 back, excluding the BOSS 429 head, since it was so exotic. IF everyone had to run 1967 or earlier, every ford out there would be running a 427 SOHC, and there would only be one or two competing. Allowing up to 1970 technology for the heads gives guys running on a budget a fighting chance to compete. Aftermarket heads are legal, but valve angle is restricted to factory specs, and ports are only allowed to be taken to a point that the factory head would accept(meaning the aluminum head is no better than what someone could do with a factory casting). It just makes parts more readily available and accessible. Iron heads even get a weight break to insure the aluminum heads have no distinct advantage.

427 SOHC is far more exotic than any Boss 429 I've ever seen. I guess they have to try and keep a level playing field.

yeah but the SOHC was available for the 67 racing season. Boss is too exotic and too new. I'd love to try a tunnel port windsor, just because....

We did some testing at Cordova over the weekend. Colby is doing a great job handling the Ranchero. Our chassis isn’t perfect but we are gaining. I don’t want to give out any times until after the first race. But I will say he shut it down at the 1/8 and coasted through the 1/4 faster than my model a will go. London Kentucky is the season opener this weekend 6/6. Come watch it’s going to be a great time. 32 cars entered in B Gas. Colby will have to work hard. Five rounds to win. 88 southeast gassers and super stock cars total
