Been working on a couple designs for a multi oil bath look for my tri power. Nothing totally finished yet. My 409 is sensitive to how much air flow. I had the thin filters in my scoops that I currently run and she didn’t like it at all. She didn’t like the air flow in this prototype oil bath even with the bottom open to draw air and the slots on the side. I still have to cut another line of slots to see if that flows enough.

Air cleaner F.JPG Here is one I made from a $10.00 swap meet oil bath, cut in a couple exhaust pipes and abracadabra. I figured if the air can exit them, nothing is stopping it from going the opposite direction.

This one is on my Mercury, started with an oil bath and added a 1937 hub cap. Top overhangs the bottom and sits a little higher.

I was fascinated by those as a kid, watching bees going around and around in the jar

2013-05-29 026.jpg This is one I wish I had. Local guy built it for his 1950 shoe box with twin carbs.

So i made this one from an old oil bath air cleaner . I believe its a ford truck air cleaner. Still have to put matching beads in the center section.

  18. Nice work! Looks like something the factory would have done for dual carbs. I also like those spark arrestors...

Hey @Clark did you just cut an oil bath in half and add the center section? I really like the look!

40 years or so ago, I made this metal spinning mold to make air cleaners. I remembered it was still on the shelf in the very back storage room where it has been most of its life. After removing a little of the dirt from the years of storage, I took a quick photo. Most of them were made of aluminum, but I did spin a couple out of copper. IMG_9646.jpeg

  26. I bought this fondue pot to make an air cleaner out of several years ago because of it's bell shape, but I switched to dual quads before doing anything with it.

Cal Custom hood scoop I bought here and put a base on and one of the many hub caps used over the years.
