I love unexpected use of elements from other period-correct cars. And it's even better when they work as successfully as the DeSoto grille in this Chevy! Any more shots of the car (especially the rear)? tapatalk_1579565977594.jpeg

That 56 Dodge pickup conversion is a nice piece of work!

I like it also! It was done in 1961 after it was in a accident. I would like to build one but, I would like the roof to be less flat. If I remember right the roof came from a ranchero. Just thinking out loud.

If I owned a 53/54 Chevy I would be looking for a T Bird bumper.

I would take it a little bite further and try this... Just would need to find a couple of Edsel grills..

I have always wanted to use a T-Bird bumper too. But I would flip it upside down.

Good idea. I saw a model(1/25th scale) that had a '58 Ford bumper mounted upside down. Looked pretty kool.

I hope I get this right. (Too good not to share!)

Doug Rice drove his coupe while building it, performing major mods (chopping, etc.) on weekends.
Besides racing it at Bonneville, he used it to tow his Deuce roadster as well.
On one such occasion (in the early Fifties) he broke the crank on the coupe. With his wife behind the wheel of the coupe,
he was able to make the long trek home to Aberdeen, Washington...pushing the coupe with the tow-barred roadster!
(He was amused by the reaction at gas stops, when they'd pull in, and fill up the roadster instead.:D)

This car was bought by Dave Barnes from here in town about 5 years ago. It had the Merc grille in it at the time. Sadly he has passed on. The car was sold and do not know the location of it now.
