It’s perfect! I really enjoyed following your build over the past year or two. Very well done.

Great roadster, really very nicely built!
As you have used the F1 column i would like to ask a question.
Could you show us how you got the steering lock to work? 40 Ford upper part welded on?
    Thanks FJ

The steering lock doesn't work. but I welded on a upper part of a 40 shaft to be able to bolt the banjo wheel on. the key and switch work but it doesn't lock the column.

Bad ass for sure. But even more than bad ass...it's classy. That's what I imagine someone with real class would've built right after the war. Not just fast, but damn good-lookin', too. Great build.

Ignorant question. The thread calls it an AV8 Roadster; I thought an AV8 was a '28/29-'31 body set on a '32 frame? Please enlighten me.

An AV8 is any model A that has a flathead v8 as the engine.

  22. Yep! Lot's of AV8's built on model A chassis.

I have a Model A on 32 rails and was told by a knowledgeable fellow that it is not what is traditionally referred to as an A-V8. I was told an A-V8 is a model A with a V8 swapped in, implying retaining the A frame.
    I believe a Model on 32 rails is a model A on 32 rails, not an A-V8.

You might take into account that there might be regional differences, but that is what I was told.

Up here in the "land-0-lobsters" an AV8 is a flattie in an A chassis...
a model A on a '32 chassis is just..... beautiful.

Things may be much different over on your side of the border...
but around here the A frame is narrower L -R in the center...
where in as I am building a sportster on '32 rails I think that an A on '32 rails is a BEAUTIFUL ...
On an A frame when you step back a few feet the frame goes out of site, makes the car seem way too tall... a '32 does not do that and is a far smoother look...
    .
so keep your future vocabularic corrections to "your" comments...
    .
I don't think to many people around this site would like you editing their comments any more than I liked it...

  27. Man oh man. I was joking with you, hence the :p Nothing to get that wound up about. And for the record, lots of guys around 'this site' have a good sense of humour.

    @lowdaddyo sorry for the drama.

Well shee-itt!! Lodaddyo, you've got some talent, sir! I just spent the past coupl'a days reading through this thing, and I'm really impressed. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, and for reminding all of us that it's not always easy pickings. Stance, color, that SOUND! I dig it all, man!

Really enjoyed the video of your very traditional AV8.
    It's bare-bones beautiful.
    Excellent exhaust note!
