This year will be Kustom Kemps of Americas Lead Sled Spectacular's 40th year. Like always I'm really looking forward to the show. Since it will be the 40th I hope to see some guys that hadn't been there for a while. Show has changed a little but still a lot of kool kustom people to talk to.

My first KKOA show was the first Spectacular in Wichita. That was the year I caught the Kustom bug. Saw the following pics posted on a social media outlet and felt like I should share them with ya guys. Looking back at them from 1983 sure brings back kool memories. If you would like to add your own pictures, please do... Happy Trails, Mick

Love your threads. Wichita was in 81. in 83, it was in Springfield Ohio for those of you who don`t know. It was a great show and our first time in Ohio. I was just there last week.

Thanks for clearing it up the year confusion... You were blessed to make them. I wish I would have made more of them in the eighties. Fortunately a lot of guys took pics. Looking back, the shows were special and just too kool

Some pictures from the 83 show. I think we stayed at the same hotel as the pic`s were taken above. The Headquarters was down the road. Red Chopped 56 Chevy.jpg Scan0083.jpg Scan0201.jpg Scan0248.jpg Scan0327.jpg

You are right it was too kool. I kick myself for not attending more of them. Early eighties I was a college kid and just didn't have the money to travel. Thankfully we had Doug Reed and a lot of guys document how kool it was. Fortunately I had the Fundamentals and Gary Mundy to keep me into Kustoms.

Thanks for those great pictures. I only ended up entered at one of the events and it wasn't that big but still had some killer cars. 941.jpg

  20. Lead East was one of Terry Cook's shows, not a KKOA production. Still cool you were there.
I did the artwork for Lead East.

Saw a few shots of this one in this thread. I took this picture at the Autorama picnic that we used to go to at the end of the car show season around the mid eighties. 669.jpg

It now resides in the Speedway`s Museum in Lincoln Nebraska. I get to see it yearly. I guess I haven`t scanned it yet. Scan0669.jpg

Here's some more coverage of #2 from different magazines...
Again sorry for the poor quality pics...
Combination of old magazines, bad eyes , dirty glasses, poor lighting, shakey hands...mmm seems like there is some kind of old warning that you would get as a kid in them words....magazines...shaking of the hand,,,leading to bad eye sight/blind ooohhh ya I remember.. 20200122_091053.jpeg 20200122_091116.jpeg 20200122_091142(0).jpeg 20200122_091210(0).jpeg 20200122_091224.jpeg 20200122_091247(0).jpeg 20200122_091336.jpeg
