History Looking for Information on this '34 Ford

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by streetrodder51, Jan 19, 2020.

  1. We bought this '34 about a year ago. We bought it in southern Wisconsin, but the guy we got it from bought it out of southern California. I've attached some pictures of the car and I'm just looking for anyone that may have information about it. The story we got when we bought it was that it was originally built at Blair's Speed Shop in the early 70s. If you recognize the car please feel free to contact me and tell me what you know about it. Any help is appreciated! 20180928_154431.jpg 3587.jpeg 20180928_154139.jpg 20180928_154039.jpg 20180928_154053.jpg

  2. All I know is that it's a really nice ride, with the perfect stance...

Yes, Built at Blair's in the early '70's, when I was working there.
Built for Craig Felbinger. Craig & I went to school together.
Craig owned the car for close to 40 years .
Underneath are split wishbones , Mustang Steering & disc brakes.
9" ford , stock rear spring & traction bars made from 1x3 rectangular tubing.
the rear bars originally had heim joints, Later I converted them to Pete & Jake urethane bushings.
    I built the floor & firewall .
    Sound about right ?

  13. That sounds right on the money! Did you start with an low mile original car when the build began? The car is one of the cleanest '34's I've seen.

I had the same thought as Weedburner, "Looks like Craig's coupe". I remember seeing this thing all over Southern California in the '70s and '80s. You can see a bit of it in a couple of photos in the "Ride 'Em, Wreck 'Em and Never Check 'Em" article that we did back in TRJ #17, which chronicled the disassembly of P-Wood's Deuce three-window. That's Craig in the Pete & Jake's shirt with his back to the camera and that's the front end of the coupe at the far right of the photo. That car has certainly stood the test of time. It was cool back in '70s and is just as cool now. It's great to see that it is alive and well. --Steve Coonan

  20. Hey Steve! Thanks for the reply! I just ordered a back issue of TRJ #17 the other night! Can't wait to read the article and see a couple glimpses of our coupe! It's a great feeling being able to collect and assemble the history of this '34.

What's hard to believe that the day Pete's coupe was disassembled was more than three decades ago. It was whole lot of fun. Street Rodder51, congratulations on getting the coupe. If you go to Louisville this year come by our booth and say hi. I'd love to talk to you about the car. I have very fond memories hanging around Pete & Jake's in Temple City back in the '70s and your coupe was certainly a part of the scene. If either you or Pete talk to Craig tell him I said hi.

  24. If anyone has a copy of that article from TRJ 17, I wouldn't mind reading it. Have some early TRJ, just checked; went from #15, no 16, 17, or 18, then start again at #19.

We would be happy to scan and post the article from TRJ #17, but we need a few days. Between printing TRJ #83 and GNRS we are spread pretty thin right now.

Pete, when you talk to Craig, tell him I said hi too. Last time I saw him was at the Vintage Tin reunion.
