  2. AS close as I got to building a cool willys was buying this old 4 door in Iowa , cut into a pickup. I sold it to HAMBer Luke here on the hamb and he picked it up from my seller's house and took it back to Minnesota. 37willys2.jpg 37willys3.jpg 37WILLYSINSIDE.jpg

  8. I've never been able to see it in person but Jim Stohr still has this coupe tucked away from what I hear.

  9. Right you are...just north of St Paul. The car is almost never out anymore, but Jim is still seen at local car events.
He is a great guy and very friendly...will talk cars with everyone. g-Willys

  13. I went looking for this car at one time, after hearing it might be in the area around Afton or Lakeland on the St Croix river. Never did find it. The pickup was running at Minnesota Dragways, when I was going there in the '60's.
In all my Willys searches it NEVER did surface...perhaps it went out of state. It was a consistent runner in the years I saw it. I have a couple of friend who knew them...but I still didn't find the truck. g-willys

  15. Al had several cars back in his racing days, and yes this was one of them. I got a chance to meet and talk with him
many times about 4 years before he passed away. He had just finished his last willys which had a frame off my Willys,
(and that's another story). He ran it a few times at the MSRA fun run at Brainerd. These are the one's I know. Not sure which one was National Champ in '64. He also ran an early Coupe (33-36) for a while. Triad car, built for brother in law. Coupe with no lettering was his last car...and the one with my frame under it. 1_245_orig.jpg Al_Tschida (3).jpg Tschida-1.jpg dragrace-wheels up (4).jpg

Don't have my MSRA directory, I'm down south now. I'll bet a Torquer would know him. Or send him a message on FB. Good Luck. That would be a nice find.

They are a fun car G. Picture 006 is the 2nd owner after I sold it. He repainted it and rebuilt it. still with the 4 cyl. I installed. Picture 001 is what I started with, it was completely apart even the chassis rails where unriveted. Picture from Tulsa was the first time out with the car it was a week old. I often think about doing another just like it but then I smack myself upside the head and try to finish what I have now.

  24. I have those pictures from the HAMB, and looked them over quite closely during my build...I did have a solid car to work with and that helped. It came out of N-Dakota g-willys
