Hot Rods Deuce Grille Shells 0n 32's & Model A's

Low buck

 

Double trouble.

 

I know the 32 firewall bolts to the frame, How does it attach to the cowl on a 32?

 

DRD says 32 shells belong on 32s and model A Shells belong on Model A's.

 

Two bolts at the top centre of cowl, that also hold the hood centre hinge bracket on.
On my coupe I put six more bolts evenly around the cowl for added rigidity, and also because I had no idea how it was meant to be.
There is a thread on here specifically about this.

 

thank you Clem. I was looking at my 32 pickup cowl and theres no mounting holes except of course the hinge bracket.

 

My good buddy shakey calls this his autumn grill , not quite a winters. all made by himself all in stainless . He is a skilled fabricator. he even found the radiator filler was offset on the repro shell so he corrected that, and made the original non pressure filler cap into a 13lb pressure cap .

 

I agree with Don Dillard 99.9% of the time, but I think deuce grilles look great on Model A's.

Hey Peckerhead, is that the same grille shell you posted at top of page? Was it green and able to strip that layer of old paint off?

I feel a large part of the appeal of a 32 Grille is the crank hole and can't understand fitting one (new repro) that doesn't have one, they just look wrong, especially on a traditional car. JW

It's not real but hey what are ya' gonna do. I saw a real one for sale recently and it was over 2k. I still wanted it but I have to prioritize. Thought about getting it and calling it the first piece of my 32 Coupe build.

I am just wrapping up this ‘28. I have since put the full hood on to hide the not so H.A.M.B. friendly Ls3.

Love the cowl vent, although it looks a little cold to be utilising it in those conditions............

This one's on my 27 but it was sectioned in 1952 so I guess it's traditional.

 

Ok, Ok, Ok, I get it! ......But this is my 31' Chevy with a 32' Chevy grille shell.............

 

Cheap reproduction... and usually covered in guts



edit; I would have also perferred a crank hole but none available when I bought it.
I did paint the bars cast iron gray to knock down the bling though.

 

They need the ''crank hole''to look right. JW

 

All 3 of these are real 32s. Stock, sectioned and sectioned with a home made insert.
