Ford Levacar Mach 1 concept vehicle, a 'flying car', circa 1960. Jets of air under the vehicle supply the pressure to levitate it off the ground.

I wonder how they planned on stopping that thing, or steering it precisely.???

Here’s the very advanced and finely crafted 1963 Riviera one-off, shot in 1962 on the GM Design Center Patio.

Bill Mitchell was obviously hedging his bets. His Design Center Craftsmen also mocked up this hatch top(T-Top) version.

This is the prototype that would eventually become the famous Bob Bourke-designed '53 Studebaker Commander and Champion C/K body coupes. It still exists and is patiently awaiting restoration in the South Bend area. Christopher Dresbach is the current caretaker.

The body was retrieved, decades ago (the summer of 1969, to be exact) from the Studebaker graveyard at the company's former proving grounds. It was based on a sliced and diced 1951 Studebaker Commander starlight coupe. Note that it was intended to have a partial plastic roof section, as was put into production in certain Ford/Mercury hardtop in the mid-fifties. This is one I would love to see on the show field, someday.

    The last image is a quickie Photoshop I did to get an idea of how it might sit in real life. studegraveyard1b.jpeg prototype1.jpeg prototype2.jpeg Stude-PGrounds-Survivor-Courtesy-studebaker-info.org_.jpeg 145311.jpeg prototypex0212a.jpeg 15172438166_1a01382935_k_d.jpeg prototypex0212d.jpeg prototypex0212c.jpeg 15008612439_d867e16055_k_d.jpeg 15008878498_7ef510f1f9_k_d.jpeg 15195151272_46e28303bf_k_d.jpeg image_10841.jpeg
