A friend and I got a wild hair around 1977 to to the Roadster show in Oakland. We drove from Carson City around Lake Tahoe, that had about 12 feet of snow, in my 65 Chevy long bed to the show. It was a first time for me. It was the start of the come-back for customs and I remember a number of them, I have slides somewhere in my office. I remember seeing shirts being painted, but don't remember if it was Big Daddy Roth. It was a great time

Was able to finally to attend and participate in the show in 2015. Was a complete overload of amazing cars. Was such a great time showing Taboo there.
I'm attending my second GNRS this year. 2007 was the first when a car built by a close friend's shop debuted in the Suede Palace and another close friends car was invited for the Top 75 75th Anniversary Deuce gathering. This year a Pickup started by Dennis but finished by GAS and owned by another will be competing for the AMBR.
I went to the 50th. It hasn't worked out to go back but it's not from lack of desire. It's a great show and a part of all of us old guys hot rod history.
I have been going since I was 14, now 70. A pal will be in the S P with a 32 5W survivor and his 40 Ford shop PU. This guy's stuff is all off the chart traditional like back in time I'm going for sure while I can.
Wow, just found this thread. Some more info on the photos you posted Hemi 32. Gene Windfield roadster was entree #237, the roadster behind it was the Malcom (Mac) Schutt entree # 201, in the middle was the E. Koehn & B. Jones roadster entree # 210, to the left was the David Mitchell pickup, entree # 202. Behind those three guys in the next isle was a line of Custom convertibles, more on that later. The next photo of the Larry Neves roadster has Larry's Cousin standing behind it.
