This car is the 1929 Cord Hayes Coupe. To me this is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/...al-coupe-by-the-hayes-body-corporation/280494 Below is a poor quality image I snapped in 2002 at the ACD Festival in Auburn IN. Gives a whole different perspective of the car. m

Hi Qentin, wonderful Cadillacs, btw how is your Caddy roadster coming along? i enjoyed and admired your built thread, is there any progress? Cheers, Carsten
My friend Rob Ida built this car a few years ago, and I'd say it qualifies as a coach-built car given the scope of modifications. There really isn't much 40 Mercury left in it, if any. While it's also not really a "traditional" build, nor was it intended to be, what it is is a work of art with astounding build quality.
Initially I felt the “shock of the “new/old” with the Ida build. Having said that it has grown on me. It was a radical departure from anything prior, whilst still embodying everything that the early customisers set out to do , ie “push the boundaries”. It most definitely achieved that. I think it will gather even more acclaim as time marches forward and the full scope of it’s creation is fully realised. And..... Gday Carsten, the 39 Cadillac has been on hold for4 years, whilst the ugliness of a divorce and bitter property dispute was finalised. I retained it. But now I’m broke.... tho stars are aligning again and a path to getting back to doing what I love is re-emerging. In six months I can foresee the opportunity to get back on it.
Thanks for the update on your cad, been wanting to ask for a while now, pleased the stars are back for you, Moon...........
Look at the 1955 Cadillac Flower car in the center of this page. https://www.nelsonvintagecarsandantiqueparts.com/
The Cord was advertised on Craigslist. The body is said to have been mounted onto a '30's Chrysler frame (in the Fifties), complete with flathead Six power plant.
Speaking of coach-building and Cords, how about this beauty? It features a Cord front clip on a '39 Hupmobile platform, and was advertised on E-Bay (for a song!).

Keep on, mate, i try to send you some power around the globe. Cheers, Carsten
Bravo Sir, you did very well. You kept the personal time machine that will help to heal the wounds as it heads towards completion. That element of divorce, been there, and endured that. That which does not kill us only makes us stronger, but it doesn't do a dam bit of good for the wallet! The Comedian Stephen Wright once said, " Why get married, just find someone that you really cant stand and give them a free house " Positive win's over negative every time. That elegant cad roadster you are working on, is proof of that!
Maybe not coach built, but you can see the inspiration. Posted in hot rod sports cars. The cars were built by my uncle in the Philippines around 1960
Love your uncle’s work no chop. That Packard has had a lot of work and those speedsters are fantastic. Some more Cadillac inspiration.
Okay, my brain just went on vacation ( out to lunch that is) Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Any one know more about this 40 Packard Darrin? Bottom pic has skirts added badly by me and top chop by Rik ( better than me).
