  8. Speaking of encouraging younger folks into the hobby.....I seldom go to car shows that are just shows with no swap meets anymore, but the last one I drove my 32 coupe to I did encourage some young boys. I was nearby when I noticed them looking it over with their mom. So I went up and asked if they would like to sit in it. They were thrilled, even their mom wanted to sit in it. Lots of questions asked. They didn't harm it at all, just enjoyed it. So, if you see a kid or younger person eyeballing your ride, let them sit in it and appreciate it, I doubt they could do anymore damage than you do.....as long as you are there watching them.

55.4% over 60 years old says more about this hobby than many want to admit.

I’m 36 and the younger (than me) generation drives me insane with their entitlement and cry baby tendencies. I think I’m part of the last group that includes real men.

Its great to see that hot rodding is a lifetime condition. :)

56 this year .. sometimes I worry that the hobby might have run its course for me but I cant think of anything else I would rather do, the occasional loss of enthusiasm its usually followed by a period of high activity.. Im working up to the latter right now, just need to step away from the computer and brave the cold in the garage lol..

Luke, there isnt anyone here who hasnt went through that senario. We all started skint, persevered through the tough years, paid the bills and scrimped and saved, but the hot rod will was strong and we held firm. Just by doing stuff you learn stuff, These days ts probably easier than ever to build, All you need to do is pick up a computer, log in and search the info. Its all here . Back in the days before computers we had to network to find stuff, It was harder to find then when there was more of it that it is now .. I am from the UK , I used to attend swap meets and chase up folk who had put modern running gear in there early Fords , usually found that the old stuff was still behind there garages and sheds waiting to be scrapped.. 40 years later, I still dont have many buddies who can mentor me but I have built and maintained a few cars for myself and other folk, Its easier than ever with the internet to do it in relative isolation. Dont be put off, good things come to those who wait :)

I'm 75 and have no plans of giving up being a Hot Rodder. It is impossible to do once it gets into your blood.

    I'll be 46 next month.

My kids who are 7 and 8 are very much into cars. I think the hobby still has the attention of the younger generation.

Now my other hobby, model trains. Well at 45 I'm one of the youngest in the group by 2 decades. That's a dying hobby
