    Sounds like a locked rear axle, common in those days. Accomplished by welding the spider gears or a solid spool eliminating the spiders.

    Thanks, that makes sense. I will strip the axle for Inspection and cleaning, if there is no major wear I'll leave it as it is.

    Try Dave Seleen from Mpls area. Interesting genius, while in hi school he installed a Ranger airplane engine in his 40's era Ford & drove it on the street.Later he built a super modified for the oval track. Supercharged engine (V8 Chev?) mounted behind driver. Very knowledgeable about midwest racing history. Greg

    The guy you may want to contact in MN is Greg Schninder[sp?]he's in the twin cities area,active in the national Miller organization,and owner/restorer of many old race cars.Greg is NOT into on-line stuff at all so chasing him down may be difficult-but worth it!

    Just curious......did you buy this car at the huge estate auction in Minnesota that was handled by VanDerbrink ??

    I'm struggling to get any information on the car. It appears to be a Dreyer car from research to date.
