Pictures of my T-bucket and my 1950 F-1 arriving at my house. T-bucket delivered after sitting in a barn for about 10 years, F-1 on my trailer after sitting in my uncle's pasture since the early 70's. The off topic wheels on the T-bucket are now gone. 20180730_102917.jpg DSCF1805 (800x600).jpg

I stopped by this abandoned diner on hwy 101 near Buelton about 16 years ago. It was made using 2 red car trolleys. The diner has since been demolished but the red cars were saved austin32-diner (4).JPG austin32-diner (8).JPG austin32-diner (30).JPG austin32-diner (33).JPG austin32-diner (6).JPG

    Hello,

As we all see the many different ways to get a hot rod from one place to another. These days, if towing is not set up during the builds, then a flat bed towing service truck is always available. In the old days, we just added towing bar to the front bumper mounts and had a sturdy tow hitch added to the 58 Impala for our drag racing gas coupe build. It was different back then as there were only the hook tow trucks that were used for damage tows, as far as we could see. Other builders just had tow bars built, too and made them removable at any time.

My wife spotted this set up coming toward us from a block away. She said that a red, hot rod, sedan delivery is on a truck. So, I got my 35mm size digital camera out. I shot several photos of it as it waited for the light and then rolling by us. The red Chevy Sedan Delivery looked like it just rolled out of a paint shop in the industrial area of this local beach city.

The outside rear view mirror shot was reminiscent of our old photo shoot days. Showing the hot rod or motorcycle in the rear view mirrors inside or outside for a different approach to showcasing the action. When going to the specific place for the photo shoot, I was always looking in the rear view mirror to see if the motorcycle or hot rod was following. That gave me the idea of shooting the hot rod using my 35 mm film camera and the rear view outside mirror. Those images went over big with the editors, as it was a new way to shoot the hot rod or motorcycle.

This action usually takes place during the minutes ticking off on the countdown of the traffic lights. Even so, it is always nice if the hot rod is standing still, on the ground or on a “Flatbed Ford….”

Brought home a new toy last week from way out in the boonies (and snow). I checked the straps often and towards the end of the trip one had slid off the tire. Fortunately I had a chain wrapped around the front axle to keep the car in place. my39-La-Pine-tlr-1.jpg my39-La-Pine-nose.jpg

I used to have a more period correct trailer but it had no brakes and was starting to self-destruct so I upgraded.

Do engines count? It’s on a trailer and I towed it home.

  28. I haven’t been quick enough to take any pictures of my cars on trailers, but what about a tractor I drug home about four years ago? [IMG]
