Thanks for the link Stogy. An incredible story of perseverance, imagination, and cooperation. The 60's saw an explosion in futuristic designs. In highschool I was enamoured with the 60's design style as it related to architecture. I wanted to be an architect, but life doesn't always work out the way you wished for. I commend Luke for pursuing such a build both as a tribute to past, but also for current and future generations of hot rodders. We need more of these types of builds with a 2020's twist.:)

There might be a thread on it...I seem to remember a Whiteish Model A Hotrod in similar stance and look Way Way back...had a couple drag stickers in the window...this looks like an early to mid 50s build...I am of course just speculating...;)

I found a thread decimated by PBucket on the Wild Ride @anthony myrick posted here a while back and was able to capture clear copies so I shall present them here in sharing the Gospel and compliment Anthony's Post and make a post back in the thread to give what it lost as all the pics-are blurry...I wonder what happened to it?

    I believe Hamber mmmaxwe
owned it by the thread at link below...
hasn't been on in quite some time, Hope All is Well, that was a cool ride

Not only that there was another...

I'm Not sure I would attempt that...I'm sure it loosened things up a bit though...

I have however hit a rise in the road at speed and nearly reworked the Top with my heed and I don't think the wheels left the ground...:D

No affiliation. Up for sale on kijiji in Oshawa near Toronto.

    Per the ad.

Old hot rod built back in late 50s early 60s. Lots of history and old pictures. Was raced it the 60s and 70s in Detroit and Ontario. Channeled over an 32 Ford frame . 32 Ford custom grille . Tuck and roll interior. Y block ford motor that has a ton done to it as well as custom chrome. 3 speed standard. The car runs and drives and stops. All parts are old and original. No after market repop parts . Front axle is chrome as well as the 40 Ford spindles, spring, backing plates ,wishbones and tons more . Rearend is for 9 inch 21000 obo no trades and offers in person.

I'm curious as to the purpose of genesis of the driving lights near the cowl. If anyone knows, please let me know. I've seen them on prewar cars, and cars made after, but there seems to be no specific brand, era, etc as to what these lights were meant for.

I guess the saying with motorcycles is put a thrill between your legs but in the case of this A Hotrod it would be put a thrill under your Ass...:D

That is a cool survivor that looked just a tad more sinister in that black and white pic...and delivered when called upon...I think without the Cowl Lights...

Cowl Lights they were standard on certain Model A's and often lost in the transformations to Hotrod...I suppose they gave additional Light and lit up the side of the vehicle perhaps looked at as a safety feature...

They were also the more refined replacements for more vintage Coachlighting seen on T Buckets in the mid 60s

I suppose they may have even had a connection to the spots seen on Customs in the big scheme of things...

The is huge divide on using them on Hamb period Hotrods and there is No question many did as evidenced by the Whiteish Coupe I just posted and even the one you just did if Stogy's assumption that they weren't there is wrong...

Someone's going to get a pretty cool Hotrod...

...Great job Henry...This will Always be a Wild Statement in Hotrod to me...Forever and is that a Stuffed Puppy Dog Toy......man that stuff's roots goes back a heck of lot furthur that we might imagine...:D

    No bigs...just being nosey...;)

An early look at the 60s Groovy
    Early Quads
Hugely wild Pinstriping and this Hotrod is skirting Hybrid/Custom with the Beautifully molded Ass End...;)

The Striping resonated Von Dutch to me in a way but it is done by an incredible talent by the name of Al Batista who happens to be a very Great Artist...see link below...It would be cool to see his other Vintage Hotrod work...

...This was one of a sizable group of period drag pics @Ryan released for us to...well...Get Excited Over and it worked...these are apparently from Texas circa 1959/60...and are quite frankly, Gold...

This is one racer that would make a nice Streetable Hotrod with addition of a few Dodads...like front brakes and lights...

Amazing what can be stuffed into a somewhat small engine bay...

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the real car built to "clone" the model car kit in this case?

You are correct Gary...never too late...and by Hollywood Hotrods to boot...

@cretin must have his signature craftsmanship built into that...Top Mark's to the HHR team...

Had to read that a couple of times...

Here is the Hotrod article...a real cool inspiration...

That definitely is a sleek looking one Stogy...
Actually I have never seen that car with skirts on so I think it was always ready to race, to bad it didn't get more screen time in "Rebel Without A Cause".
I have always like the looks of it , it just has that look.
It's nice to see its still around...would be cool to see it with the rear caps off and down and dirty like it was in the movie though. 15790918184428262391330996686962.jpeg 157909239048183183896976128764.jpeg 15790917806298885473240552536434.jpeg 15790917306098812824451287283284.jpeg 15790920161788306165728134354013.jpeg 15790919614398265550316092538494.jpeg

Seeing these pictures reminds me of this one seen at Deuce Days last summer. There is a 1952 safety sticker on the windshield so you know that this is an older build. IMG_1309 - Copy.JPG
