Just threw this together for my wife to run at the Symco mini bike drags. 1968 or 69 Fox Doodlebug. White with rainbow flake. Purple wheels. Made a purple flake seat. Stock 5hp Briggs. She lost in the final round.
My son and I started on this. My dad bought it new when he was a teen, I rode it until I was about 12 and now it needs a new life.....it has been our first victim of learning to powder coat..... I'll have to look for the over-all pics....
The Honda Mini-Trail 50 is totally street legal in California, I had a plated one in the ‘70s. Honda also sells new ones now, but they’re not cheap.
So----here are some shots of my Big Bear Scrambler which I bought new when I sold my Blitz Kart. (easier to blast into the woods when the Nassau County police arrived!) I kept snapping the frame at the neck so my friend's Dad adapted a Schwinn fork and spring to it which made all the difference in the world. He was a very talented craftsman. (To read about him find my thread-- Number 20 a special quarter midget in which I outline the support we had for that kind of fun back then) Ignore the geek on the bike!--it was 1960 or so and I was about to get a learners permit which meant the bike had to go.Still have two Rupps and an Artic Cat. Have two West bend 580's which are like new if you are working on a project, NUMBER 20--SPECIAL QUARTER MIDGET

Shucks ......Loudbang.......I just sold two Arctic Cat minibike projects last summer......now I'm feeling sellers remorse !! I think I even have some of that clothing and gear somewhere in the basement. Thanks for all that you do.
One usually doesn't need a new head gasket on these little engines - I can't remember how many times I have successfully reused old head gaskets on mini bikes, lawn mowers and other equipment.

When I was 13yrs. old I wanted a mini bike more than anything, but we couldn't afford it. So, looked at pictures of the Fox minibikes and others, got some 3/4" electrical thin-wall conduit, a loaned conduit bender along with a a friend that could braze, not weld ,and built two really cool, fun, mini-bikes. Found a 3hp Briggs and Stratton motor being thrown out and had no more than $15 in the deal. Life is a lot more fun when you have no money and have to find a way to get what you want on your own. Life lessons that are good to learn early.
Wow , this brings back memories. As a teen , my jr. high school buds were getting mini bikes . I talked my parents into the Fox Doodlebug but I had to sell off my 20 " "banana " bike I had got for Christmas. I had a beater builder so I still could pedal . The sacrifice was worth it . Dad was a Policeman and forbid me to ride the mini bike on the street so I had to push it to the schoolyard to ride. It was not long before I had the seat done in metalflake blue and rigged a lil shifter with a string to the govenor for a blast of wot. It was like a nitrous shot . I took the chrome electrolux vacum cleaner poles and rigged them to louden the exhaust and swapped a larger tire on the rear. . All the local teen girls wanted a ride on the back and I was living large ....lol.....man those were the days of not being so innocent ...lol.
We’ve never identified this one as manufactured. At the bottom on the down comers are bearings that the rest of the drive is mounted. There are shock/springs mounted at the rear of the seat which supports out back.
I owned this one twice.....once in the 70's and later in the late 80's up until a few years ago! Here it is after I restored it! One wicked little machine. It would do 58 MPH. Not too bad for a 105 lb. 100 cc minibike. Now, I have a Rupp that I hope to restore someday!
