I have some rain this morning as part of the expected change in the weather. Hopefully it keeps going east of me.

  3. ..........That would be a God-send. Here's hoping for more.

Wish I could send you some of our rain! Hoping for you guys...
Saw a news report yesterday where your PM went to visit a small town affected by the fires. You guys can be rather explicit when airing you feelings! Hang in there and all the best.

Sorry for the poor quality picture - its a photo of my computer screen, with a map showing the extent of the area affected by the fires as of a few hours ago. The shaded area grew considerably over night, when I last checked it.

I hope it gives you some perspective of the degree of devastation over here. Fortunately my family and I are safe.
I hold grave fears for friends in the affected regions.

Take care everyone . Stay safe

Still raining but I doubt enough to help. Like others I still have (Hot Rod) friends I have not heard from.
Sadly in an incident of this size communication is not the best and sadly we have seen that with Federal and State Governments failing clarify information although in my experience with an incident of this size you do sort of expect that can happen. That also includes what is being sent into help like the ADF ( Military). Now Singapore, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea have also volunteered Military and humanitarian aid.

EDIT: This is Victoria > https://www.emergency.vic.gov.au/respond/

We are getting a bit of rain not enough to kill the fires
This is going to drag on for days , most likely weeks.
Out valley and town and surrounding communities have been evacuated which is the right thing to do .

California, and other States, have been hit very hard with big fires over past few years - no one can understand how horrible it is to experience everything being destroyed right before your eyes - literally ruining your life - one area in Northern Ca saved a display as a remembrance - only can send positive thoughts and prayers to those affected 20191012_171557.jpg

You need that rain more than we do at present. Not much in it but it has been a misty and some what dusty rain here all day.

Never heard of "dusty rain" before and I live in British Columbia where we invented rain!

What you get when you have a dust storm and rain at the same time. My daily driver today is covered in dust and looks filthy.

When the fires went through the Port Macquarie area late last year, I was picking up some vintage tractor parts west of there. They'd just had a thunderstorm with hail stones and a drop of rain and the local children were putting them in their mouths only to spit them back out because they tasted of soot.

  20. We once lost a home to fire. However the rest of our stuff that wasn't in the house wasn't effected. Losing everything is a hard lick. I seen some U tube video of you all fires its horrible. Hope you get plenty of rain.

Yet to measure our rain and I doubt it will be much. Air is still full of smoke.

We're a fairly stoic lot down here. In the face of all this catastrophe people can still make jokes about it, even though they're hurting, and we tell the Prime Minister to f... off and get out of the way and let the professionals do their job.
That's why we love our sunburnt and bushfire burnt country and the people in it.

4.9mm (.20 of an inch) of rain here. Hearing it is raining in fire affected areas of Victoria so hopefully that helps. To other posters please do not let this topic get political as at this point in time it should be about those who have lost and need help. We can direct the blame and point out failures in communication after.

I have still not heard from those I know but am thinking no news may just be good news.

As a resident of rural central California I understand how horrible these fires can be. My thoughts and prayers are with the folks struggling with this disaster. May God bless.

Not the usual outlook. Again I am not near any of the fires.
