Living out west and staying up late, I've reported a lot of spam. The majority consist of very few words and 30 to 60 links. Others, have some grammatically challenged (English as a 5th language?) off-topic advertising with a link for more information. I formerly hung out on an International Harvester web site that would not let you post a link until you were a registered member for a few days and had 10 (if I remember correctly) posts. Also applied to the "For Sale" sections. Does not stop all the spam, but, slowed it down a lot. We would still have to report "bump" and "BTTT" abuse - those usually were those try the "For Sale" sections. If your website service has a provision to restrict link usage, you might want to consider it. It would take some load off of our volunteers.
I was talking to a guy at a car show that scoffed when I mentioned HAMB. He said his club referred to it as SPAMB. I did get chuckle out of that.
Several similar suggestions have been made, but Ryan stated that he isn't fond of limiting access to the forum, regardless of good intentions.
Fortunately Ryan has given each of us a tool to help control the constant bombardment of spam which is a huge help to the moderators who are not always on line 24-7. HRP
