Technical Ripple pipes

Anybody know how ripple pipes are formed?

 

Stick them in the bathtub for too long?

 

I get them from Pep Boys

 

You should be able to create that effect using a roll cutter (pipe cutter) with a dull blade and lots of patience. I imagine they use a similar process with multiple blades to mass produce them.
When I worked at Hedman years ago I made some for my Knucklehead using our pneumatic roll cutting machine by using an old blade and setting the depth (stroke) of the machine to not cut completely through the tube.
